I'd vote for the Bf-109 G-10 as, in sim mode, it is the fastest, most maneuverable and most stable of all the 109s to fly.
The lack of firepower is a resonable trade off for the performance advantage over its stablemates and has proven to be better on numerous occasions in sim mode. It makes smooth turns, doesn't spin and soaks up the damage. The lighter flight weight, mainly due to the lack of wing guns and considerably lighter VHF / UHF micro valve radio equipment makes for a better dive pull up as well. Only the G-10 and K-4 have the MW-50 power booster edge. On the downside, the G-10 does kick when dropping out of WEP and this can be annoying when lining up for a shot or making a tight turns. On a left turn the plane kicks wide and on a right turn it tries to roll over onto its back. Despite being aware of it, it still catches me out in the heat of a battle. In a straight line chase it'll catch a K-4 and Fw 190 D-9 in all modes. As for Spitfires, it is faster than the IX and able to give a XVI a good run for its money. The G-10 should be in the list. |

I have so many times gotten loads of hits on an enemy plane just to be blown out of the sky by their team mate, or Ill damage them...but not get credit for the kill when they go down. I can only get a kill when I manage to get a direct hit on the cockpit with the cannon. Sadly, I'm back to the G-6/K-4 combo. Its a known fact that the 109F was superior to many versions of the Spit...not the case in this game, but I have to accept it. |
the “meanest” fighter
Well Matt, at least you can be happy that the G-6 is the “meanest” fighter! With its three 30 caliber cannons you can saw wings off with ease.
If you just learn how to fly it to take advantage of its strength (Killing Power) and avoid “turning fights” with the Spits and La’s, (hope your wing man covers you) you can do really well In it. |
I know what you mean about the 109 models. I personnaly find no difference in the way the G10 handles in comparrison to the G6. The F4 is an excellent dogfighter, the best of all 109s. But it just doesn't have the guns. It and the G2,G10,E3 seem to be all modeled the same when it comes to the guns. That is the reason pilots do not fly them, especially in sim mode. You just don't see them in competition. They won't deliver the kills. Also, as far as sim goes, the G2 has aweful camo. Maybe it works for the desert, but certainly not everywhere else! You just can't miss it. In arcade it doesn't matter. Everybody finds everybody thanks to target locater.

The g6 is damn good and it just might win the deathmatch (if I can get it on). But try the f4 in sim. One excellent handling, very smooth, tight airplane. It's just the guns are peashooters compared to the g6.
Come on people!!! I NEED PILOTS!!!!! Just send me a note. Say on this thread or my other deathmatch thread you want in. I'll contact you. We gotta have a deathmatch tourney. By the way, if I didn't say so in this thread already, I'm tryin to put it together. So come on guys! I NEED PILOTS! Yes, even Poles and Chechs who can't speak English!!! YESSSSS! |

When I fly the F-4 or the G-2..I do not shy away from the turning fight with them. I find it funny that I can surprise a many of Spit pilot when they turn a few times, and my 109 is still on their tail.......The G-6 is a BRICK compared to these planes. I wish they had a decent damage model in the game....they should do a lot more damage then they do, even with the one cannon. |
I agree.
