Yeah, you might come out as a tad snobby using fancy words like that in here. ;-)

You have to keep the button pressed to make any noticeable pitch changes, because they are driven by an electric motor. According to a link posted here a couple of weeks ago, the pitch control system on the DB605 could turn the blades a mere 1.5 degrees per second, so it wasn't really fast in reality.

I haven't tested if this matches what we have in the sim, but the engines are different as well (we have DB601s) so there could be differences. Also, 10 minutes on the clock instrument corresponds to 1 degree, so if you keep the button pressed and you see it turning 15 minutes per second it would match the specs of the DB605 system.

Hi BkDg,

it does not turn at such a speed for me (1hr in 4 sec) but much much more slowly. IMHO the pitch rate was much more appropriate before this patch.

I did read the link with much interest. Tremendous works. Now we see why the Auto Prop looks like so real in IL2 for the 109. I guess that any latter vers eventually modeled would re-use the same model. Interestingly the IL2 109E was more difficult to revs than the F or G.

I hve seen that you recommend 10h10 for cruise speed. I still use 9h30 as cruise setting with half closed rad and oil rad open at 10/20%. only.

On initial load/first flight I get no CTDs and decent performance. By the third mission (including repeats of the same mission) I get several second CTDs when accessing the Esc menu in flight. By the fourth or fifth mission I'm getting the 'Low performance - disable Aero?' dialogue, fps has dropped noticeably and stutter starts to return. Swapping between different missions seems to exacerbate the problem; staying with the same mission causes less slowdown but it is definitely still present.

There is definitely something causing an over-time performance degradation, very possibly the aforementioned RAM not clearing after a mission. I'm highlighting this so Luthier & co see it, hopefully they'll be able to identify just what it is that's causing the problem and fix it! :)

EDIT: finally tried a proper test and ram usage goes from 63% on the first flight to 78% by the fourth or fifth. :(

Ditto on this. I have reverted to one flight in CoD, then switch over to RoF for some smooth hassle free flying.
I have also noticed that the feeling of speed down low does not appear to be anywhere near fast enough.
RoF gives a far superior feeling of speed in the weeds in a/c that are doing one third of the speed of the CoD a/c.

I cant even be bothered playing a mission theses days with the state of the patch. The stutter and sound dropping out just kills the joy. That with the lack af a stable multiplayer and no one on multiplayer anyway. I just test a couple different settings with black death a couple times a week if a GPU driver revision or COD patch comes out. After making progress for the first few weeks I think things have gone progressively worse over the last 2-3 patches.

Im just back to 1946 and the occasional ROF flight myself.

* By popular demand, enemy indicator arrows will now only appear in the no-cockpit
view, and will not show up when the cockpit is turned on, i.e. work they did in
the original Il-2 games.

BOOO Ive allways wanted this feature in the Original IL-2 game!! Thought i finally got it only for it to be ripped away. Why not just add an Difficulty option to be able to toggle the Arrows on or off no matter if cockpit is allways on or not!

I did some testing with the ingame 109 using a clock. It takes 4 secondes for 15 minutes Proppitch and 16 seconds for one hour proppitch increasing and decreasing the pitch. So if I understand right, it is four times slower than it should be.

I agree and thats exactly what the devs have been told.

Quick question - just upgraded my PC to be more CloD friendly & it required a fresh download of the entire sim from Steam.I know it includes latest patch but what about this hotfix...do I need to download & install it as well?
