The problem I'm having is that every time I try to level up the game stops and returns me to my desktop. I have no problems running the game or combat. A screen pops up saying that I advanced to level 2 it then begins to load and once it finishes loading, game over.

demo won't run, various errors
I have a HP a6400f PC running Vista Home Premium (32-bit) SP1 on a Pentium Dual CPU E220 @2.20 GHz with 3GB RAM, Intel GMA 3100 graphics with 286MB memory (a integrated graphics chip on the motherboard, but its enough to run Aero). Dxdiag reports DirectX 10 but I also have Direct 9.0c installed from another game. The Intel GMA 3100 supposedly supports pixel shader 2.0 and vertex shader model 3.0. I don't have a software firewall, I rely upon a firewall built into my router which does not manage outgoing connections.
When I launch the demo I get a "Kings Bounty (online) warning" telling me that the applications trial period is about to expire, but also stating that I have 999 days 23 hours, 37 minutes left and it will not expire until sept 25, 2011 19:15pm. It has a OK and a Activate button. If I press OK it exits. If I press Activate it prompts me for a serial number which I don't have since I haven't bought the game. I worked around that using 3DAnalyze to launch it with Emulate HW TnL caps set. I then started getting the D3DERR_INVALIDCALL .\BMRender\rmode.cpp error after creating the character and starting to load the actual game. I installed the latest 9.0c DirectX. I then installed the DirectX SDK , found dxcpl.exe in the utilities directory and configured the DirectX control panel per the directions (change the Debug Output Level slider, select the Use Retail Version of Direct3D 9 etc.). I upgraded the video drivers to the latest version. I still get the error when I finish creating a character and it loads the actual game. What do I do next? I'm not willing to buy a graphics card to fix this. I'm running the demo with several settings dropped from high to normal to improve performance, and music/sound disabled. |
These morons have had this error in this game for MONTHS already and do nothing about it.

I have the same problem exactly. Sometimes an error, sometimes just hangs. I think always in a battle. I have the XFX 8800 GTX video card, Vista 64-bit, nForce 780i motherboard, 4gb of RAM. Every driver I can think of is updated and DirectX installed. Just real annoying, since the game is so good. Trying to decide if it's good enough to warrant buying a new video card for.

You guys using the built-in chipsets, it doesn't have to cost much money to get a decent card.
Tomshardware.com releases a best card for the money guide every month. Here's Feb 09., they usually start at around $50. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...deon,2151.html |
The game won't launch
I am unable to get the King's Bounty: The Legend to run on my computer. I just bought and installed an ATI HD 4830 with 512 MB just to play the game. After I installed the game, I double-click on the icon, my hard drive light goes for a while and then nothing. No error messages, no splash screen or anything. I checked for patches and even tried applying some of them, but if I do it states that I need to insert the correct CD. So I assume that there are no patches for my game. I purchased the game at the end of December in a store, so I guess the patches don't apply to me. I also have contacted Atari's tech support 3 different times getting back 3 different case numbers over the path month and a half and I have never received one response from them even though I get their automatically generated e-mails and I also gave them 2 separate e-mail addresses.
Can anyone else help me other than Atari's support which seems to not exist? I'm running Windows XP Pro 32-bit SP3 with all updates installed. I checked for the latest directx 9 from Microsoft and also installed it from the DVD. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
