i, for my part think that this http://www.yogysoft.de/Moskau.htm is a indication that SoW:BoB isn´t dead.

fireflyerz 08-25-2008 08:27 PM

:arrow:Has anyone asked Nike it about gettin an update...?

Bloblast 08-25-2008 08:47 PM

Robtek thanks for this.

Some guys were so fed up by the lack of updates that they went to Moscow to get some. Cool!
Very intresting info BTW.

Clearly shows that BOB is alive.

I think we need an English translation of that page. I did a Babelfish on it and probably got the most of it.

babelfish the web page, interesting stuff they are talking about underwater cameras for use in game

Oleg looks a lot younger w/out moustache, which is good to see. Needs a decent haircut, though.

CrayIvan, do you have anything to divulge concerning how closely the release dates of BoB and Korea are tied together?

Simultaneously? 6 months apart? 11 years apart?

If you have nothing, anything, including wildass speculation will do :)

Chivas 08-26-2008 03:18 AM

Pure speculation on my part, but I doubt very much they will be released at the same time. Oleg will want to have full attention and sales exclusively on BOB. Galba will appear sometime after the release of BOB but quite awhile before the Med(?) is released.

(?) hopefully the Med and even then only if sales of BOB are worth the time and effort to develope the Med. Atleast the wait time between theaters will be much shorter since the SOW engine is done, except for the normal engine updates to allow further features.

Six months sounds about right

proton45 08-26-2008 12:53 PM

I just read a translation of the article over at the Ubi forum...interesting stuff. I'm really looking forward to flying this sim. I expect that ground pounding will be much enhanced (with all the individual DM's and ground vehicle FM stuff)...Korea here I come.

Vrooooooooom! Vrooooooom!

proton45 08-26-2008 12:56 PM

I'm waiting to hear whats "wrong" with the article and the information within...reading it makes me "kind of" happy, but I'm sure that I'm not being cynical enough (LOL). :)

Your posting with the link... very good news to see Oleg again. Don't know why, but the guy's ugly puss has always been an encouragment to the IL2 fans. Guess it's because he has always been such a "GOOD GUY".

Anyway, thanks for the posting.

I was wondering if "SoW BoB" is ment to run "better" with an Nvidia video card? The translation of the 2nd statement is:

Quote:

2. Ground textures: A new (nvidia) format with several information levels is used, no more tga. The textures contain now also information for the AI, like for example local maximum speeds. This contains also smaller roads/ways. It will give also substantially more textures than in IL-2.
Does the statement mean that the "new & better" ground textures will run better with an Nvidia card or am I misunderstanding what is being said?

Time will tell proton.... Time will tell....

A sim which would use the CUDA system of the Nvidia cards would be a real blast!

Never mind I googled it and this is what I found:

I know that it sounds like I've got a cold. Back in May I mentioned about CUDA which is a free download from Nvidia- no point unless you've got an 8 series or later eg GT200 Nvidia graphics card! )for Windows, Linux and Mac). It includes the nvcc Compiler, a Profiler, a gdb debugger for the GPU (alpha available in March, 2008), a CUDA runtime driver (now also available in the standard NVIDIA GPU driver) and the CUDA programming manual.
The whole point of CUDA is to turbo charge your time critical or CPU intensive applications by offloading the number crunching onto the GPU in your graphics card which uses highly parallel operations to do crunch 10 or even 100 times faster than the CPU. Nvidia have been pushing this and you can now find a whole series of free video casts from the University of Illinois as well as other technical resources on the Nvidia site

Unless it turns out to be just like the physx drivers and we see a loss of fps with this too.
