sYk0... been using your fix since day one.. thanks again for your efforts..
one pain in the arse issue thou is my FRAPS 3.5.9 (latest version) doesn't work properly with the sim... I wonder if you'd be able to help me ?? fraps works with all other games and even CLOD right up until you spawn in.... I get the fraps counter in all of my clod menus but as soon as I hit the fly button the fps counter disappears and wont return until I restart the game.. when I tap the record hot key twice to start/stop recording and come back out of game, there is a recorded file but this has only sound and no video... again fraps recording works absolutely fine with all other games and it would be fabulous if you knew how to rectify this.... one other point of note is, I tried a similar piece of recording software called bandycam and that seemed to work fine, although its rubbish compared to FRAPS... ive PM you my email addy |
auk929: I just setup a new computer that came with Win 8. All I needed to do to get CloD to run was unpack the zip and follow the clear, simple Readme instructions exactly

Links are not working anymore?

I wish I had never installed Win 8 Pro. The CloDer.exe is now blocked following another Win 8 update..it is called an "unknown app" and will not allow command to open CoD. It had been working. At 76, I want my computer to work as an appliance. I hope if others have this problem a solution will be found. I have to exit TrendMicro athough I listed game booster 3 and CloDer.exe as excluded from blocking. And Rise of Flight works just fine!
|
Hi zahnartz62
I doubt that it’s a Windows update that has done it – My Win8 installation is set to update automatically and I have had no issues. There may be more than one exclusion setting needed in your AV; for example, scan exclusions and process exclusions. I use the included Windows Defender (which incorporates MSE in Win8 ) and nothing else since I don’t like to use more than one anti-virus, and have always found MSE adequate in Win7. RoF would obviously work since you’re not using a modified launcher to run it. Have another look at your AV settings. |
Thank you TonyD. I will now whine for a moment in case any members have similar experience. I have had no probs with CloDer.exe Win 8 pro until recent Win 8 and steam updates. My method is x52 pro test controls, exit TrendMicro which hates DloDer.exe and I have exempted several files, then start IR5, Gamebooster 3 (which Trend stopped now exempted..then to CloDer.exe in C drive Steam etc. That now leads to "document" window, click, open to new name "Launcher.exe" double click and no response. BUT NOW..a windows 8 screen opens and says "win smart screen prevented an unregistered app from starting..I chose "Run Anyway" which leads to My Doc window, I select CloDer.exe which opens as "Launcher.exe", double click nothing happens except..foul language and curses for Win 8 Pro, persuavsive FRY's salesguy, and my wish to have my computer behave like any other household appliance. I am 76! I will try toning TrendMicro aggressiveness down. Again, I am detailing my experience in case others have similar response. The CloDer software was very nice, effective, and a nice gesture from a non sim guy. Now back to Rise of Flight...Cheers!! Thanks in advance, John
|
John, here’s a method for excluding files in your AV: Link The file name I’d suggest is ‘CloD*.*’ which should exclude all the files; if this doesn’t work you will have to add each separately. Both ‘CloDer.exe’ and ‘CloDer.dll’ must be in the same folder (I put them in the game folder) for the exe to work. You then run ‘CloDer.exe’ while Steam is running and it should start.
I don’t know why Smart Screen is being triggered as I don’t use Internet Explorer, but you could have a look here |
Thanks Tony D. By game file you me Documents..IL2 etc ? Not C Drive Program etc? My main frustration with Win 8 is constant signing in. I have haunted PC magazine sites hoping for a fix by rational user. I have written MS bitter emails..I live with a dog. I don't need security details to read my mail, visit websites as in Win7. I was a fool to upgrade so soon. OK, I will try again and I do appreciate the time you take very much. John
|
I tired again to add CloDer.exe to exception list but removed before completed by trend micro. I will call them tomorrow and discuss problem. Since I can't pretype name but must browes to file, open it, I get 28% open then deleted. I had it removed, as started above, by a page from WIN 8..stating unregistered app so deleted. It may be MS gets money from each app so outsiders removed. Believe me, I know nothing I am talking about except to describe results...of my blundering. John
|
No, the installed games folder - typically 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover'.
You should be able to type the file name into TrendMicro's exclusion list according to their website. The file name I suggested contains a 'wild card' description so it will exclude all files beginning with 'CloDer', including the original compressed file you downloaded. |
Anyone know how to get mods working with the win8 fix?

Virus
How come nobody talks about the virus the antivirus detects on this fix???

CloDer uses the better part of API Hooking, thus meaning it extends (or rather fixes) the code within CloD, in order to make it work under Windows 8. Unfortunately, the hooking library used is freeware (the fix is freeware and therefore I will not spend money on a commercial product, nor do I have the time to make my own library) and thus has been used for malicious code in the past, this is why your anti-virus product goes mental. |

Thanks sYkO, that's great news!

See first post for update (v 0.0.0.2).

Trend Micro was chewing up CloDer.exe and I was about to call them and decided to quit sims for last few weeks. All worked fine this AM except my out of practice landing. Many thanks for you gracious help.

Thanks sYkO
new version works a treat with mods You're a star! |
I cant get this to work.
I have tried putting both files in same directory as the launcher and adding to exceptions list in Avira. When i click on either Cloder file I get a little black box flash up (dos) and then disapear, then nothing. Within steam I get something about vd redist Is there anyone that could help me. I have been away from sims and gaming for a while and really want to play cliffs of dover. Thank you, Martin |
Anyone. Please help!
|
Try to Start the Cloder File as admin, or set "run as admin" in the file settings. Hope that will help (as it does for me :D )

hi sky0 can you add a version of your patch whitout the virus? plz you are my only solution!

Hot Diggity
Well now. The fix works.
Unbelievable. I'm truly grateful. I bought a new Dell XPS8500 i5 with Windows 8 and 8 gigs of RAM two weeks ago and one of my first thoughts was, "I'll finally have enough horsepower to play Cliffs of Dover." I've been banging my head against the wall ever since downloading it, as not only would the game not play, Steam has simply sent me a single form letter in response to my (very specific) issue. I had done some snooping on the Internet to try to find solutions, but had come up empty. Then, tonight, I found a link to this thread. I read it in its entirety after my initial download attempt had Avast! freaking out. I was encouraged by the very detailed explanations as to why an antivirus program might balk at the download. So, I determined it would be safe to give all this a shot. And it worked on the first try. Again, unbelievable. Again, I'm truly grateful. But... now I'm realizing I should probably upgrade from the GeForce GT 620 with 1 gig that came with the machine. But that's a good thing, because it means I CAN PLAY CLIFFS OF DOVER ON MY MACHINE! So, thank you sYk0. And to anyone else reading this thread trying to make the decision whether or not to give this fix a shot, don't hesitate. -bryan P.S. Any recommendations on what kind of graphics card I should go for (without going crazy-over-the-top)? |
Tsma,
I just recommend dont buy "ATI Radeon HD 3970", graphical issues in CLoD. :( Sokol1 |
Brilliant!!!!
Thanks syk0,
I've been searching in vain now for months to get this sim working, and you come along and sort it out. Great, I for one appreciate guys like you who can sort things out for the rest of the community. Good on ya mate!! |
Hi. Just to let you know, Im having the same problem as Theleif was having. Placed .dll and exe file in the directory, run it (and tried as administrator) and get the blue spinning circle for a second or two and then nothing.
I had installed the fix a month or so again and it was working fine but my steam got uninstalled. Once everything has been re-installed its not worked. I tried validating my files with steam. No help. Tried running it from a temporary folder linked to the launcher.exe but that didn't work either. Thanks for your help. |
Thanks you sYk0 for the new fix. No more problem with my Gdata antivirus.

psyO is AWESOME!
Many thanks to psyO. Now I get COD to run in Windows 8 using my low gigabyte brain - no thanks or help to/from Ubisoft. Mister, Ubisoft should offer you a six figure job!

Windows 8/8.1

Hi Guys – I haven’t looked in here for a while  I run CloD on Win8.1 without needing the fix. sYk0 wrote this fix for me originally, and I still have it installed, but I found I can run the game directly from Steam now.
The original issue was a result of a change in a security protocol from Win7 to Win8, but perhaps this has since been addressed in an update – I found this before I upgraded to 8.1, and it is still like that. I suspect missing/wrong version DirectX files - I suggest running the DirectX installer in the ‘redist’ folder in the game folder and trying again using the Steam launcher. You can also run the other installers in this folder (‘vcredist_x86.exe’ and ‘dotNetFx40_Client_x86_x64.exe’) – it won’t do any harm if they’re not needed. If you still want to try the fix, place the files in the game root folder, create a shortcut to ‘CloDer.exe’ on your desktop, and click on this to launch the game. You may struggle to extract the files, as most AV’s will identify the dll as a Trojan and delete it - it technically is, as it bypasses the security feature. You will have to add the files to the ‘exceptions’ list in your AV – both where you extract them too initially (like your Desktop) and before you copy them to the game folder. Some AV’s can be a bit difficult getting them to do this, but I can assure you that the files are safe, so ignore the possible dire warning you may get. CloD's performance in Win8 is very good - I ‘upgraded’ originally because MS said it would better support my previous BullDozer cpu. I don’t know how much truth there was in this, but CloD ran very smoothly on an FX-8120 @ 4.2GHz and a HD6970 using all 8 threads. The only difference on my current machine is higher frame rates. S! *Edit* Forgot to mention - I'm using CloD version Team Fusion 4.00, possibly makes a difference. |
windows 8.1 not running cliffs of dover
Hello all.
I have windows 8.1 and purchased il2 cliffs f dover on steam. I have installed team fusion patches. and tried the cloder exe and cloder dll system still will not run Il2 cliffs of dover. with the team fusion patches it begins to load but then crashes with a partial screen of a sky and the lower screen is black. what to do??????? Any help would be appreciated |
Fix Works for Me Windows 8
Thank you to everyone who fixed this. I just bought a new gaming PC and was rather frustrated to find it would not run COD.
Eventually I found this link and downloaded the exe and dll files. After installing in the correct directory I started the app. Norton promptly deleted the exe. So I went into Norton and restored the file and told it not to screen in future. Tried again and Norton deleted the dll. Did the same. Third time lucky and I am in a Hurricane over the English Channel. Many thanks. |

With the greatest respect to IC Company can you make a definitive patch that will finely fix this problem?
There have been so many bad experiences every week from guy's trying to fly Cod, can we finally have a fix that works for everyone with out the constant bother? Many thanks in advance. |
Works for me!!
Thank you so much Syk0, you just made my day!
After some headbanging, I tried running Cloder.exe in administrator mode and it finally worked. Now, it's up, up, up and awayyy! |

I follow your instructions in your message you write the 02-06-2014 and it's perfect and clear for me. I can play Cliffs of Dover now. Tanks a lot. coulou02  |
Alternatively, you can right click the Launcher shortcut and click on properties, go to the compatibility tab and select " Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 8".
No need for the dll files, credit to ATAG Snapper for discovering this. Works great for me on Windows 8.1. |
how do u down load this stuff
|
Just klick on the links in the first post.
And install these: http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.co...t=5058&p=52711 |
Works great!
Thanks a lot, sYk0. Wasn't able to play CloD on my new Windows 8.1 PC, but thanks to your excellent two files it works.
You fixed it! Kind regards, Ikarushin |
@Ikarushin: Make sure you have also installed the Team Fusion patches!
|
Yes, Continu0, you are right. I certainly will do that. Given what I've read about the Team Fusion patches, I'm looking forward to what they have achieved with CloD.
|
Windows 8.1
Do Team Fusion patches work with Windows 8.1 or must you still use the CloDer.v0.0.02?
Many thanks in advance. |
TF-patches are enough. Normaly there is no other fix needed. Only TF-Patches!
|
Hi,
Many thanks for that. |
Desktop Shortcut for Cliffs of Dover
Steam informs me that I have all the updates properly configured :???:for Cliffs of Dover (COD). I can successfully start the game via Windows 8.1 by clicking on CloDer.exe within the game folder. I copied the latter file to my desktop in order to create a shortcut but clicking on it there gives me the following error message: "Unable to locate the required hook library". I also tried right-clicking on it and "running it as an administrator" but I get the same error message. Any solutions for creating a workable desktop shortcut?

Source Code
Hi all,
I know it's over two years later, incredible how time flies :-P. I not sure if anyone even uses this patch anymore? For anyone that is interested I have released the source code for this project, find more information in the first post. Regards. |
Hello amigos:
Great patch, my old Windows vista computer died last week, and I have to buy a new one with Windows 8, and couldn't play COD since then (just crashes through steam "launcher.exe"), now I could play COD again, and will install TeamFusion Patches and Desastersoft campaign, terrific job, and congratulations amigos. |
There are two cloder files to download do I need both and if not which one do I need?

I just purchased a new copy of windows 8.1 pro. Installed the OS on a new ssd. I installed my Cliffs of Dover game on Drive E. and ran the steam validation and all checked out ok. Clicked on the shortcut and it looks like the game is going to launch, but then it doesn't. Not sure what to do. I used to run the game on windows 7 pro and had no problems. I can get the game to run with the windows 8 fix, but would really like to not do this if possible. Any sugestions? Thanks Metabo |
I suggest installing the Team Fusion Patches because the game basically is crap without them and amazing with them:
http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.co...t=5058&p=52711 it will solve your win8 problem! |
Just tried installing on Win10, and had to use this fix to get it to work vanilla. Will report back if the TF patches allow play without the fix.

And Does your hardware you meet the minimum specifications for the game ? |
Everything seems to work fine after installing the Team Fusion patches on Windows 10. Of note, though, is that I had started in compatibility mode for Windows 7 in an attempt to run the vanilla version, but had to uncheck that to get it to run with the patches installed.
|
Many thanks to author of this fix. You really save my Il2:CoD under windows 10.
I just don't want to understand batches of unofficial TF updates just to get Il2 working. TF doesn't support old scenarios and your fix is real help for me! :) |
Hi all,
I am French so excuse my english.... I am running Clodo with the TF Patches on a laptop with Windows 10 ... And i tried evertthing i could from this thread and from others on the web but the game crashes everytime at 95% of the mission loading. I can go throught the menus etc etc.... I don t have any clue for the solution... Thx for all Acro |
truble with Widows10
Hi everyone,
My PC was upgraded to Windows 10. So, I can't launch the CoD.:confused::confused::confused::confu sed: Does anyone know how resole this problem? |
FYI - CloDer.exe fix don't work in Windows 10/64 bits "Anniversary Edition", return this error.
https://s12.postimg.org/6ysyprfwt/CLo_Der_error.jpgforum image hosting Explained there: http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.co...l=1#post246248 Solution: Install Team Fusion Patches - the above link say that the first patch (3.0) will make the game able to run, but no reason for not install all patches, up to TF 4.312, take only minutes. ;) |
Unfortunatly applying the patches still doesn't fix it for me, still nothing happends when running Launcher.exe
