S!
Patch works OK. FPS did rise a bit on tracks. Also noted that tracers ricochet off the ground :D Neat feature and they are also a bit easier to see now. Need more testing, but nothing major yet. |
HELLO B6
its the tree, clouds and grass, stutters issue suposed to be fixed? cheers |
In FMB all bad weather flikkers and it is very diffcult to fly in this conditions.
|
patch is on right step
the tracers just rocks the 100 octane seems to appear finally some stutters over terrain still exist more response on flight controls ai don't follow commands still exist i will test it more and return back for debriefing |
Quote:
Trees are also odd now, I have distant trees and close trees but nothing between. Tracer ricochets are just ridiculous too, I've no idea if it's at all realistic but it appears to be very hollywood to me. Another huuuge step back for me this patch is. |
Tree visibility is fubar.. visibility for them are approx 1000yrds. They pop up very close.. does not look good.
Clouds are still disabled for the most part. Every time i close the game i get a launched crash. Much better than every time i open it though. :) Had a quick fly in the Spit 2a, guns sounds and tracers are improved. And its general performance seemed to be higher, not 100% sure about that though. |
For me I have only had a brief run out with the new patch.
Clouds are still pretty much a no go for me, getting a pretty constant vsync on 60 fps when away from cloud but drops to high 20's when in/near cloud. Gpu gets a workout as the fan spins up but goes off pretty much straight away when out of them. No CTD yet, stutters are a lot less noticeable, some AI commands working (more to test), tracers looking great (new or just not noticed) So for me so far the patch is making the game run better ..... Clouds still off a bit of a downer. Update - Trees, as others are reporting the trees seem to be drawn in a very small circle around the plane, at low level looks awful as you can watch them being drawn as you go along metres in front of you. Playable on my laptop is good enough for me. |
I wish I could get rid of the shimmering and get some decent Anti Aliasing working
:( |
hey guys! i NOTICED THE STUKA HAVE SIRENS! whit this patch! i was in a gunner of these, controlled by IA an when started do dive NAAAAA that sound, i picked up the control of plane and the siren was all the time, its a key to activate it?
|
Patch is fine for me! Had a few coop mission with my fellow squadmates and after a long time we really had fun playing CLOD! Patch is an improvement. But still needs lot of work.
|
New beta patch is working great for me although performance wise the game was very smooth on the previous beta patch and still is with the new one. RAF tracers are much better and glad to see the inclusion of 100 Octane Spit 1as and Hurrys

Delete cache. Apply new patch Delete cache if there is one Start CloD Load a quick mission, fly around for a couple minutes (this will build a cache) Next mission you load after that one should be optimal. |
If I verify files in Steam, will it destroy my control and loadout assignments?

my controls are still fine, I don't have steam cloud on though

Thanks B6.

Better performance overall, more consistent framerate. Way less stuttering than in previous patch.
Runs very, very smooth. I'd like to see an option to enable different shadow settings. |
Overall its running very smooth offline and online and its looking great graphically but when online i cant get the spit mk1 or any of the hurricanes to fire up??
|
first impressions: very positive
as always i'm among the most blessed when it comes to side effects etc, nothing weird to report besides the grass on the hangers; no trees massed pop ups, no roads between channel, no FPS drop with clouds, nothing weird in the landscape thus far; i did see grass flashing on the screen once, when about to land - clouds seem to pop on/off less - the bullets ricochet really nice and render further, both mine and the AC nearby, overall a big thumbs up for tracers. as for FM, - the radiator now seems to affect speed - i see it's noticeably harder to overheat the Spit IIa - seems to be harder to enter a spin in the Spit - enjoying improved speeds, like 290mph sea level; seems easier to catch those buzzard 109s, i'm certain they were having quite a harder time, they've been enjoying far to much advantage lately - throttle back to good behavior - blessings be heard, it's finally possible to climb up to 20000ft and maintain speed :) (didn't try any further yet; before beta 2 the engine died on me above 14500ft) negative - stutters slightly up, but not troublesome - FPS drop remains when more than 2 nearby human AC - sometimes the enemy human AC display a jumpy behavior, but that could've been lag last comments: - to all affected by glitches, test disable or reduce the graphics card OC if you have it; i have none, perhaps CLoD it's too sensitive about that? - i had the new nvidia beta drivers before this patch (had previous beta) and can confirm it did very well for the stutters, had them reduced almost to none (especially noticeable on take offs) - remember (once again) to delete the conf.ini on "C:\Users\USER NAME\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" and empty the cache folder on the same path - tested online on 4 flights in ATAG edit: negative: - spoke too soon about the trees, now i get the massed pop up on a narrow square around the plane positive: - the stukas now have dive siren, heard them when pursuing a wing diving over hawkinge; how cool is that? - better MG sounds with the browning |
Can anyone post a video showing off the tracers and richochets?
|
Ho hum. No improvements for me. Frames per second still capped at 27fps on high settings, and stays at 27 even when turning everything down to lowest. Not quite high enough to play, but just enough to piss me off.

Can't Even Play
This patch has ruined my ability to play this game. It will not even start, not even vanilla. I have re installed twice and verified the game cache an innumerable amount of times. Please, help me. How do I fix this?
|

I had to backup and then delete my conf.ini and confuser.ini files from My Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\ to get the older game versions to work again. Try that as well as deleting the cache content.
As for performance, blackdeath is lower AVG and higher Max and Min. I redid back to back testing and here's the results at Max settings 1920x1080 4xAA. (only 1 GPU operating as SLI is no good) v1.05.15950 - (Last official patch) AVG FPS 52 MAX 144 MIN 6 DX10 Alpha Patch (Prior alpha with fix) AVG FPS 53 MAX 124 MIN 4 v.1.07.18301 - (Current beta patch) AVG FPS 40 MAX 166 MIN 7 So clearly avg is down a lot while max and min are up. Having said that, the game does look to be a bit smoother (was already very smooth for me though) but it's certainly a lot lower FPS in the external shots, especially on Blackdeath. The other tracks appear to be better however so its a mixed bag. Maybe it will be better from within the cockpit. I noticed shadow popup from the trees in this patch compared to the last official and its a bit annoying! PS if you want to go between versions keep a backup of your parts folder and rename it to keep a copy of each version. You will also need to delete cache, and conf.ini and confuser.ini as I mentioned above as they vary from version to version slightly in someway. Remember to back your ini's up! ;) |

I can't believe everyone is gushing about the tracers. They look like something out of a Sega Genesis game. Every bullet is a tracer, they are way too white and they maintain formation for way too long. It looks nothing like guncam footage in history, and nothing like tracer rounds today.

Hello everybody.
Back on CoD for testing. I'm happy to see that the sim is still alive. Is it mandatory to have the mini fix installed to install this last patch ? |

1) Verify integrity of local files (to get back to last official version) 2) Go to your documents\1c softclub\IL-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover folder and delete the cache folder. (the game will rebuild it based on the new version next time you run the sim). 3) Extract the beta patch in the game folder (c:\whatever_you_named_it\steam\steamapps\common\I L-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover) and let it overwrite anything it wants to overwrite 4) Run the sim one to force it to rebuild the cache. 5) Start a free flight quick mission to force it to add anything else it might need in the cache. 6) Exit the sim. 7) Restart the sim. |
I've got big stutters every so often and consistent mico stutters every second or so flying close to the ground and looking out the window. In fact I've never really had problems with stutters like I do with this patch.
I like the extra range on the tracers but maybe too many bullets ricochet in too uniform a way. looks good but. |
i think the tracers are fine and dont need any more touch, you guys, have seen tracers firing? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCbDvc8-9g8
This is a MG34, i tested it in the sim, i puted a PzIV and it looks the same |

I, like many will wait for the actual patch, but thanks for all the feedback..sounds like a step forward.
Remember it's a Beta ! Has anyone looked at the Spit skins/weathering? Is the Spit still stuck on max weathering ? Still waiting for the game to 'settle down' before doing any campaign building... Regards Simon |

Well, this one is definitely worse than the last beta (+fix) for me :(
Over populated areas fps went down from 25 to 15-20 so that it is just not fluid anymore and stutters are definitely much worse for me. Especially noticeable when panning around with TrackIR. Looking around from front of the cockpit to the planes six i have at least 2-3 pauses ( each perhaps 1/10 sec. long ). Very distracting ... Bummer, have to disable shadows again. With last beta i was able to enable shadows and have a fluid sensation of flight even over large cities, not anymore .... Just had a furball over Hastings on ATAG with 4-6 planes. FPS went down to lower 10th, perhaps even below. From memory this was not the case with last beta. i7-2600K 8GB ATI 6950 22GB Win7/64 |
As someone who unistalled the game a long time ago in the hope it would get better i have recently installed again and after this latest patch it flies well for me with an average of 45fps with a max of 60fps with most settings on the highest. I flew over an hour last night in two servers with no crashes and only microstutters on a couple of occasions, once when i fired the guns and once as i dropped down to land, but it flew smoothly even when alongside other players. The biggest frame hit is mirrors as usual, i gain 10fps by switching the mirror off.
Installation of the new patch was a little problematic, i backed up the bob and core files then installed the contents of the new ones and the game would not start, a brief flash of gunsight then nothing, so verified in Steam then deleted the cache installed again and it worked fine. So its a thumbs up from me. System AMD 965 at 3.7 8gigs ddr2 800ram ATI 6950 2gig memory OCZ 120gb ssd |
I’ve only had time to test using the Black Death track, and recorded the following:
Ver.17582: 42/99/7 (avg/max/min) Ver.18301: 40/95/5 (avg/max/min) Settings: 1920 x 1080, all quality ‘High’, AA, A-EF, SSAO and VSYNC ‘Off’, Grass, Shadows and Roads ‘On’, using SMAA and cpu @ 4.20GHz. Subjectively, the first run displays less hesitation when caching textures and differs little from subsequent runs – seems to me that this function has been tweaked? The only graphic glitch I saw were the burning aircraft through the BF109’s fuselage when it flies part the runway, which is as it was previously. The biggest news for Cayman users is that there are no longer blue lines displayed on the horizon at low altitude  Update: despite the BD track results, in-game performance seems to have improved. I flew the quick missions over Dover, Le Havre and London and found frame rates to be generally higher. Flying between the chimney stacks in Le Havre the frame rate is now limited by VSYNC (I only disable this when running the benchmark), and at 500 feet over London I previously had 29-34fps, now I get 36-42fps with no visible graphic difference. The new tree LOD is a bit distracting, but the missing blue lines error is the biggest improvement for me. |
All you Bf110 lovers, perform a nosedive and see.. :)

I managed to fly for approx 1.5 on the ATAG server without a CTD or lock up of any kind. this for me, was unheard of with the earlier patches. I would always have to leave and re-enter the sever at the end of each mission.
I had some stuttering at low level which I could deal with and got shot down twice and didn't know anything about it because I had no huge lagging like before when any enemy A/C were close by. So that in itself is a step forward. |
TS Overlay stops Launcher for me, every time
I don't know whether this is useful information or old news but just-in-case;
TS Overlay stops Launcher for me, every time. I use TSNotifier, which seems fine but sometimes get confused between it and TSoverlay. I didn't use TSoverlay or realise it was enabled following an update but it was and it crashes Launcher.exe. Septic |

This is very good news |
Gutted. I deleted the cache installed the patch, ran the game to build the cache and my performance with settings switched down to low are down from approximately 25fps to a really rubbish ,3 fps over the sea with only two aircraft on the screen.
I think therefore I will uninstall Clod and go back to the offial steam version and wait while you dedicated chaps fix it. Cheers, MP |

All i care about is getting people up in the air, the more we all advertise these "tips and tricks" the more people will know about it. I suppose we both care more about getting more people to fly than being strict on crediting, so by all means "steal" whatever you think is useful if it's going to help someone. Cheers ;) |

Try deleting the conf.ini in My documents/1C SoftClub/IL2 Sturmovik cliffs of Dover, try starting the game. Make a backup of the Conf.ini before you do it. Hope it helps. |
I just delete the whole IC Softclub folder from my documents first backing up any ini files I might need. It all gets rebuilt when you first run game after patch.
Mostly things are better for me apart from the dreaded disappearing trees and also some corruption in the start up and options screens which dosen't really matter. |

If it isn't ...delete logo.wmv . |
I went by the instructions one of my friends gave me. I didn't open the patch folder, I just right clicked it and extracted it to the Cliffs of Dover folder in the common folder. I used Winrar to extract it. I have now re installed the game 3 times, and still no dice.

verify integrity
ok....I'm a newbie with this game...how the heck do u do a verify integrity to get back to the last copy before the beta if u screw up?
|
look... to be frank, with the patching process in Beta, the sim should be patched up without mods of any kind. It should be vanilla for patching... then if that is working for you, then go about reinstalling mods - albeit one at a time and test at each mod install
|

Verify your files on Steam, make sure "keep this game up to date" is not enabled, and extract the patch folders into their respective folders in the jsgmemods folder ie: C:\cliffs of dover\jsgme\patch 106\parts C:\cliffs of dover\jsgme\patch 107\parts Then use the JSGME program as usual to switch between versions ad hoc. |

If you want the simulation to look like gun camera footage ask the developers to model fixed focus, fixed exposure setting, fixed EVERYTHING, and then simulate all the guns being mounted to your virtual head. --Outlaw. |
How do I 'Verify integrity of local files (to get back to last official version)' before installing this patch, as Blacksix recommends?
|
Quote:
Start Steam, go to your library, right click on Cliffs of Dover, click on properties , a small window should appear, click on "local files" and then "verify integrity". It will probably say that 31 files are missing, just let steam update the game. |

I had not seen the new tracers because I currently dont play Cliffs of Dover and thus I havent installed any recent patch but I just saw a guncam video posted in the video section of this forum and I have to say that subtle change makes a huge difference to me.I know that there are still bugs and other issues but I find this simple thing to be a big improvement. The ricochet look excellent too.Even if I dont feel like playing the sim, I will definitely enjoy watching the upcoming videos showcasing huge dogfights with all those tracers coming and going from every direction as well as the strafing runs just to see those ricochets. Thanks to the team.
|
Mmm. Thats sad. A definite drop in graphics performance so for me this patch is a nogo.
|
Tracer ricochets look nice (il2 used to have this when you shot at the Sturmovik). No change in fps for me, still major slowdowns when lots of dust or debris is around. I'm getting the autogen screwup with the trees. Changed the tree setting and it seemed to work but then a few missions later it's back to popping trees. The saga continues.
|
Also some of the flak guns now have tracers. Bombers too, which is a welcome addition. Now flak must improve its precision, today it's a joke.
|
Installed the game by the rules after coming home from Duxford where I saw an airshow with real ww2 aircraft. Was very excited to be able fly the 109 and spit with a lot of the bugs removed in the game after seeing them for real.
However (after reverting my game from the beta patch to the last official patch) somehow my version number remains 1.05. Online flying on servers like ATAG has become impossible. Does anyone know a solution that doesn't require me being a programming expert and doesn't delete all my game files? Edit: This problem has been solved |
Yep still a joke

What, your post? |
S!
While this patch for sure had advances there were also steps back. This tree thing is a clear step backwards. I did not have problems with them in last beta, kept them at Medium which provided nice looks without sacrifice in performance and they appeared right. Now they pop up and out around your plane at low altitude flying. Higher up outside this "LOD sphere" it does not happen so visibly. And I can tell never happened before. I could live with trees from RoF in this case rather than with these automagically appearing and disappearing ones :D |
Thx fellas keep up the great work!!

:) Another great patch to improve CloD. Thx 1C - team, nice work.

I could live with the old IL2 type trees I know they where not very nice in group but individualy yes and you die with a collision between the plane and the tree. And visualy it was not bad at all only if the you did fly under the level of the top of the forest was it strange but not for long. If it is a solution maybe give us the forest of IL2 1946 back !?.
IL2 is a nice serie of games or better of simulations kep up the wonderful work. |
Are we going to have any sort of feedback from Luthier or Blacksix about the bugs and problems?

and yes, they are totally different now.i was amazed, how precise the controls are in the official version... compared with the beta patch, the official version is way better. now with the beta, its really hard to make small but precise adjustments while aiming... please give us that precise control back in the 109...the current one sucks |

Hello all,
when i read almost all the stuff about bugs, it seems some pilots have no or almost no problems with the new patch. as i read further it seems to me more people have much problems with the patch ( me included) I notice that this patch took some two months to be released. Can i kindly ask to B6 to ask the Devs what the next steps will be? I can't imagine next friday, there will be a usual update telling us that the Devs are working to improve the sim further on as imho we are here not talking about improvement of a patch anymore. After all patches we got there seems to be a fundamental problem with the sim, at least for some people. If there was not, there wouldn't be so many complaints, after so long time of release. So, will the Devs continue the way as they do so far or can the community expect a major change in policy to adress the fundamantal problems many customers have with this sim ? Thank you for answering Tigertooo PS:B6, would it be possibe one of the Devs answer this question, as from what i read, you are the unfortunate "inbetween" chap |
Hi all,
No problems. Hurricane performs better. Improved FPS. And more ground detail. Best Regards, MB_Avro. |
