S!
Sounds are better, especially for Bf109E :) Bf109E-4 is SWEET! Land colors and overall feel mucho better as the shore lines. Shadows flicker still and the AMD users will notice the "3 lines" in horizon, but VERY faintly. Most performance hit for me are the shadows and trees. Especially trees cause stuttering at low altitude flying. Up high no problemo. The beta is a leap towards CoD being what it should have been so remaining hopeful for the future patches :) In short, an improvement in a positive way while some issues remain. |
We have wingtip vortices whoo!

good job!!!!!

Another thank you from me to the team

Great Luthier, downloading now!
I'll post whatever bugs I find and especially make note of the ones that are STILL present. Talking about loadout menus etc.. Some of these things need a little more love and it would be awesome if you managed to throw in some of that before the official patch :) Can't wait to properly test this!! |
Luth be my dad please!!!!! X
Great news! |
Thanks Luthier;-)
|
took a first glance!!!
and i have to say...waoh! the new lightening is great.way way better now.didnt have much time to look carefully for all the new features.just took the E4 and killed some spits.its funny to saw wings off now. ah and the sounds.....great!i love the way the lowering landing gear sounds now. tomorrow i will have a deeper look into the new world of cod. |
Man I have to stay here at work for a few more hours. What a drag.
|
I only had some few quick missions with the E-4 against some bombers, therefore cannot say very much about the changes.
What I can say is that it is great sounds with the 109 and the atmosphere in general! And I have the impression that the AI gunners have become much more accurate - they shot my beautiful E-4 every time in pieces. :-o |
There is going to be a lot of crow eating going on for a while now.
|
Took the E4 out for a little spin, and....Whoa, man. Just...Whoa.
I actually got my better half breathing fire down my neck because of the sounds. They are simply AWESOME! FINALLY the 109 sounds like a 109. Actually got shot down twice and crashed once because I couldn't stop doing flybys :P I also found that I definately liked the new colors etc. Also got a nice boost in performance, even with everything maxed out. Had some stuttering when I was down low in the trees, maneuvering heavily and panning around a lot, but nothing major. The only issue I found was that for some reason, I've got "rainbows" (tearing etc) between some panel-lines and certain places in the E4's cockpit. Nothing too major. Only somewhat annoyance was the static reflection in the instruments, and that only somewhat. Would love for them to be dynamic, or have the option to remove them. Probably something I'll get used to. All in all: Applauds all around! Another good step towards becoming THE WWII-sim for years and years to come. |
still not fixed the FFB still shaking even after the plane has crashed , its somewhat annoying .
not related to the patch but thought id mention it incase noone ever has |
My first thoughts:
1 Sounds are wonderful in comparison to original ones 2 Lighting looks more natural, plus noticed more sun glare at dawn 3 More white wave crests 4 Old tracks appear to have complete sounds now (not just sound of your own aircraft) 5 No additional crew animations yet (we'll have to wait for the 'gazillion' animations gathering dust!) 6 Maybe slight fps hit but early days not sure on that. Looking forward to more improvements in this vein, big thumbs up. I'm watching England match but I want to get back to COD!!! |
Did anyone noticed bug in E4 canopy? Sidewindow opens wrong direction now, forward :-P New sounds are fantastic, still need polishing of course but definitely way to go! New colours are great too. More testing later.
|
A huge step in the right direction fellas..applause!
|
I was playing 'Dogfight - Even' mission last night and played it today (post-patch) and I'm getting a performance hit... 8-10 fps less and more micro stutters when flying low.
EDIT: cleared cache and defragged game directory and fps drop/stutter remains. I'm still getting blocky water :D (nVidia 430 GPU) other than that it all looks great, I assume performance will probably increase over time as code is optimized. http://bs.beckament.net/files_pub/Fl...aterblocks.png |

Amazing sounds and graphics though. Very impressed with the patch so far good job Luthier and CO. |
omg a performance hit to something that runs single digit fps anyways, I think i'll wait for a fps fix.

im not too keen on the way its switches from idle to revving on the spit , the guns seem a little weak sounding now too or maybe thats just me ..
noticed we've lost the clicks we used to get when using switches and toggles in the cockpit , i liked thoughs as it let you know you've done it . i too noticed a performance hit , time for an upgrade on the gfx front i think , my 4890s are pushing there luck now , specially as xfire isnt working right yet . |
Hm iam waiting for the new ATI Cards in 28nm! Hopefully they come end of this year!
BTW Multiplayer COOP still not working! Will this ever be fixed`? Noticed a performance hit to! But still amazing sounds and graphics! Iam happy! |
Make sure you check all your graphics settings when checking fps comparisons.
|
Sounds 100% but graphics? Hmmm....a step backward I think and a definite performance hit.
|
New patch robbed me of 5 fps too.
Gonna reinstall and see what happens. :( |
109 sounds are brilliant, and the toned down ground looks much more like England.

WOW! MUCH better sounds! Everything from bullet hits to explosions and VERY defined engine sounds! Even noticed that an engine fuel line secondary fire erupted on my 110 and started burning up the wing with it! Really nice! New skidding on the ground is awesome!
110 Canopy won't close bug - FIXED! New tracers - AWESOME New colours, smoke and fire effects - WICKED! I less-than-three IL-2:ClOD! btw less-than-three is <3 |
Great
Tis is great thank you for your work
|
Any chance anyone could post a short vid of the new sounds + sights (especially the Merlins)?
My PC's gone to pot and is at the menders and probably won't be out until the end of the week and I'm desperate to know what I'm missing! |
CLoD team, I have tested this patch and was amazed.
I think the price of this sim just went up. It's that good guys. IMHO |
Here is a English beta download link i made if someone should need it

new blood effects
the E4 is awesome the planes fly better more responsive the game looks beatifull and awesome when you look the sun the whole screen changes with the new effect---wow some fps hits but very playable [didn't change my settings] also the stutters exists only in low flying and not that much as before when you bail out you still hear the sound of the cockpit sometimes the settings and loads in singlplayer still the same you cannot load them or change them or save them antiallising the same the new sounds is very realistic excellent job the AI still the same maybe a little of change comms works--[more added] |
Spit sound is crap like hell,i cant hear my guns, its another fake.
|
Not tested yet but many thanks for the work peeps.

First impression:
New colour is better, especially land, sea, and shore line. Looks more like Europe now. Great engine sounds, absolutely great. Better visible tracers, bullet impact, smoke and fire. Better AI no more crashes during landing. AI now fly to their home base and land! |
This patch is amazing so far, feel like a new game on many levels, for steams user who can't start up the game after putting the beta patch files in their folders, just don't use your steam shortcuts or desktop one, go directly in the CoD folder and use the game launcher.

Firstly, thanks for keep working in the sim, I'm sure it will get better and better.
About the beta patch: - new engine sounds are great, so are the guns; - in the cockpit, we now have sounds for the magnetos, but lost sounds for fuel cock and lights, haven't tested more in this matter; - when starting engine, I'm getting the dust from the ground coming through the plane structure to inside the cockpit, in my rudder pedals (I've seen this only in the hurricane); - the colors need more adjustmens, the other tread about this topic has some nice critics. http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthr...087#post330087 - when looking at the sun, it doesn't seem to shine, but puts a white fade all over the screen, this looks terrible; - the new shorelines are a great improvement! I'm new to the sim comunity and just grateful to have this game, any more work the dev team is doing is much welcome. Thanks guys, keep it up. |
Very excited to try this when I get home however reports of an FPS hit are not to my liking especially when I assumed the color algarithm changes were due to performance issues so I was expecting a huge increase in optimization. It's beta though so maybe it will improve.
Hoping for the best.. Gollum;-) |
Off my drive now , I give in.

love the sounds, graphics look much better, feels like a new game, my only request is that we get antialiasing working next as it's hard too see enemy airplanes.
thank you very much Luthier and team, great job:grin: |
IMHO Everything is better now, specially the sounds, the only drawback in my view is the tropical haze that is back, too yellow and too heavy. Lots of steps forward and only one step back - good enough for me! :)
|
Is anyone else getting a very loud very hi pitched scraping sound? It's so loud that I can't hear the engine. Giving me a headache.
|
Downloading patch - 15mins.
Installing patch - 3mins. Firing up the sim, flying the E4 and hearing the plane in fly by view with full speakers on - Priceless The ground looks so much better now too...It was worth the wait in my book. Huge step forward! |
Thanks Luhier and Team. Graphics much nicer, terrain a liitle washed out maybe but far better in every other aspect.
Shorelines, allied canopy tint and Sea - significant improvements. I don't measure FPS so my judgement of performance is based on gameplay and no noticeable losses or problems with this patch. Sighting distant ac seems to be more difficult but the rendering is much cleaner. Very happy with this one! |
-Shake head displacement is still a bit too much up and down. In RL the head of the pilot is a fantastic vibrations reducer.. keep in mind this.
-Props are weird Will try later i just fired up CloD for 15 seconds .. I'm hoping it will get better because as for now i'm not quite happy.. yet.. Great to see you guys are working on it.. :) efforts will pay. |
As with most on here,it's like a new sim now and much better, this is what I personally was expecting and now I've got it,thanks very much Luthier, top job.
The ground colouring/lighting is just fantastic and I had to make several emergency climbs this evening as I found I was not concentrating on flying but just staring at the ground! Sea and shoreline textures and colours are now perfect too, this is such a big step forward. Your team has certainly done us proud Luthier, the sounds now are absolutley beautiful. The only change I would make, would be to turn up the internal and external Browning machine guns sounds,I find them a little too quiet, but I guess that's a personal preference, overall I'm really impressed and I'm now sure we will see a few more guys online this week.;-) |
The immersion improvement of the new sounds make this a new game! Especially flyby sounds are just great!
|
fantastic improvement. sounds are really good now,the sea looks fabulous, land is much better.apart from heavy clouds its running amazingly smoothly,it was good before but its almost like its on steroids now, well done, please fix the AA is about all i can think of for now.
thanks |
Any radio commands improvement?
oh, thanks to Luthier for including us in the beta :) |
+1 and then some.... thanks team!
|
Thanks Luthier and team, nice overall improvement. Sounds are the way to go as terrain as well, however a fps hit and some stutters are bugging these niceties. Hope will be fixed with the official release.
Best to all, |

Bit of a noob at defragging an actual game, but can you walk those of us like me through how this is done? much appreiciated, want to try the patch, but absent the issues it will create if I dont follow your instructions, thansk |
So far i love the patch. I would love to have a little mor bass.
Also i seem to get mor launcher crashes now since the patch. Pre patch i had launcher crashes VERY seldom. Winger |
Hmmm . childish.....pah.
|
thank you for the update ! but please please for the love of god fix Anti aliasing... its such a gamebreaker for me atm :(
|
SLI, plz.. SLI...
thanks for the rest |
debating what to do, install, not install. givent he fps hits...just not sure. but leaning towards waiting for the beta to become official...its a hard choice....would love to see some videos of the new stuff though....my fps is very playable as it is, just afraid if I get a 10 fps hit, it might not be so playable...I realize this is a continuing work in progress..

Big improvement, well done, sounds are brill and ground textures, but i still am getting micro stutters, and when taking off and landing the dust slows down my computer like crazy, anyone else have this prob?
|
ok Well i love this game here is my 2cent. 1 i was too hit by this fps thing it really hits hard on the 3rd level of zoomed in. other than that it feels soooooomuch smoother. 2nd I fixed my FPS hits and now the game runs like Butter. I use a SSD drive and do that whole memory drive with the bob files in an image and i load in the BOB parts that way, now when i do this OOOOOHHHH man we are talking like hot dripping butter off some steaming gold flapjacks. LOL muhahaha
Jimmy OUT!!! Thank you so much BOB Team great update sure there will be a few more but its getting there. P.S. I do not like the new way to select sides now u cant see how many are vr's and this is a Hugh problem when people are joining pub servers and there be no auto balance running witch suck any way. so don't do that in less its an option. any hoo my 2 cents, |
"Big improvement, well done, sounds are brill and ground textures, but i still am getting micro stutters, and when taking off and landing the dust slows down my computer like crazy, anyone else have this prob?"
same here We had the same problem in il2 1946. |
They absolutely greatly improved everything.. Merlin and DB sound like heaven. Thank you!!
But the gun sounds... they are 100% worse if you ask me. Now the MGs sound like nothing, no feeling for the violence of the things at all. Or is this realistic? And I think even in a closed cockpit with a engine in front of you the guns would be much louder. I want the old gun sounds back!! The 109's MG17 were perfect... |
Thanks team,
I have not gone beta test and will wait for public release. Hopeing for the FPS to be sortted and no stutters anywhere. for me that kills it. As for evreything else good news, what about SDK for map making ? was that due in this patch(I could be worng) So please guys can you look into stutters low down. Thanks for all your effort thus far O_Smiladon ;) |

I too have SSD drives. 2 of them raided. But what is this image file you speak of. Is it just how it is with the SSD drives or do I have to do something? Shed a little lite when you can brother.. I too like flap jacks.. -Gollum:cool: |

Extrmely cool patch, the whole game looks much more solid, much more "integrated". I got those FPS hits, too, but maaaan, I can live with that for now given the other improvements. Thanks! |
The cannon shell tracers really lag me out now man
|
Got mixed feelings. Patch and sounds definietely have potential. Got lag issues back with patch, probable result of memory handling.. over London seem to look for cache or something a lot, I get good FPS for a second, then it stops, good fps, stops again etc.
So GPU power is there to run it, it just can't seem to load it nicely. E-4 cocpit is very buggy. Left side window slides forward (!!) instead of backward, and you can't click on the little plastic handle to open it (probably kept placing of "mouse active zone" from E-3). Right hand side window does not open at all, neither does top window, even if they should. I believe that top window also misses graphics for small plastic handle grip (like side windows), though I could not find accurate picture of it for comparison, I am pretty sure there was something the pilot could grab to open it.. You still cannot actuate flaps and elevator trim wheels at the same time, even if it was designed to be operated at same time, so pilot can compensate for trim change when using flaps. Gunsight dimmer does not work on E-4 (its simple transparent glass) BTW - I don't think Wehrmacht was enviroment conscious, so can we please get the Revi circle at full strenght lightining by default please? Its borin FM (performance) problem is still there, E-4 cannot hit official specs at low altitude at full power. http://www.kurfurst.org/Performance_...chreibung.html Did not have time for further tests on any plane. Overall promosing, but please fix above problems. |
Just tried and must say GREAT effort.
Here's my one (for now) gripe. MGs in the Brit planes need to be better. Don't care if this is realistic (whatever that means flying a computer), it needs to make you feel like your spitting lead, not spitballs. My ideal would be Jafa but with the volume turned down 25%. I'm done...let the hating begin;) |
I am still getting unplayable frame rates which I put down to my GPU. So while it looks great the FPS are all over the place even with reduced settings. Here's hoping for a Crossfire fix next.

- Sounds much better
- landscape WAY better! Now we need these things fixed: - FFB constantly cutting out while flying then suddenly coming back on. Seems to happen when a minimum value is hit the FFB just turns off or times out, leaving the 'wet noodle' until some quick control input reminds it to turn on again. IL2 didn't have this problem. - Flickering shadows. Please, this immersion killer has got to go - I'm sure it's not an easy fix but at least give us some more video options to choose which shadows we would like to keep, and be able to turn off others that we can live without for framerate sake. -There was something satisfying about being able to hear the "thunk" of bullets off other planes. Yes, I know the engine is in front of you but there is always a balance between fun and realism even in a sim. Pre-patch it was probably too loud but now I'm just saying maybe it's too soft so let's be able to enjoy some of these small but satisfying things within reason. I can live with the softer gun sounds but again I'd bet you can feel them through the seat of your pants enough to make them seem 'louder'. Perhaps more bass in the gun sounds because of the occlusion through the plane. -Smoke effects (including clouds) need tuning. They are hogging FPS unnecessarily, at least up close. Maybe it's the downside of being volumetric but perhaps there's room for performance tweaking there. Just a few quick things in my opinion that could use work. Thanks for your efforts, things seem to really be shaping up. |
Tested some of the stuff mentioned in the changelog and they work.
Ground handling physics: The Blenheim can now take off without swinging so violently to the right. Advance throttles to +1.5 boost and as soon as you got some speed to have some airflow over the rudder you can advance them the rest of the way, keeping it lined up with with rudder. It still needs a bit of differential braking at the start of the run but nothing like it used to be when we had to constantly tap the brakes, kill our airspeed prolonging the roll and blowing the engines. Bombsights: I only tested the Blenheim since i had already started with that one. It works fine now. I was at 8000ft and went for one of the airfields near Calais. Setting boost at +1 to +1.5 psi gave me about 180mph indicated. Manual says that 200mph IAS at 8000ft is 225mph TAS, i was doing 20mph less IAS so i just set reduced TAS by a similar amount and set it to 200mph in the bombsight. I think there is some wind in the stock quick mission because my bombs drifted somewhat to the left, but other than that i hit the target just fine. If i had some wingmen with me we would have properly carpet bombed the place. In terms of performance, i got a couple of artifacts in the cockpit during red out and the elongated "needles" of land protruding into the sea are still there some times, but i'm running older drives so that might be it (forgot to update them and when i remembered it today i was in too much of a hurry to fly the new patch :-P). I don't measure my FPS but i didn't feel any noticeable hit. It might be a bit lower overall but it certainly feels much smoother and more consistent now, which is something i prefer anyway: i'd rather have a constant 40FPS with less stutters than 45 FPS with stutters. In any case, it feels much smoother to me and i also raised the trees amount a notch without any noticeable effect on performance, not to mention it sounds and looks very good too. Suggestions: If possible, a separate selection field in the graphics options for the player's aircraft textures in the future. I'm running texture size at medium and that works well for the landscape and other units, but tends to blur a lot some parts of the cockpit in some aircraft or other parts of the model when viewing them from within the cockpit (external views still look fine, it's some of the cockpit views that get blurry and not all of them either). Examples are the wing markings on the 109s that denote the step/no step zones for the ground crews and the cockpits in bombers, especially gunsights and bombsights. Definitely a big step in the right direction. What i really would like to see for the next patch is focusing on the more gameplay-oriented features, like streamlining the control logic for all aircraft, correcting some non-working instruments and finalizing the radio commands. By the way, the placeholder list of commands is impressive. I had a bit of fumbling around and if you make them work for the next patch it will be awesome. Among others, there are commands to have your crewmen: report altitude (useful during landing) report airspeed (useful during takeoff) handle flaps/landing gear tell the gunners to hold fire (if you want to sneak in without giving your position away due to tracers) etc. I'm much more excited about these features and now that it seems the graphics and sounds are up to a standard considered acceptable by most (baring the final AA and SLI/Xfire optimisations), i hope that you will have some time to address the actual gameplay side of things: the aircraft look and sound terrific now, let's start flying them and having them do what they were supposed to do :-P Thanks for your continued efforts, i'm definitely looking forward to what you have in store next ;-) |
Well I manually installed the patch and now the game will not launch at all! Tried to launch from the in file launcher without Steam but it still demands the spawn of Satan known as Steam be activated.
Frankly my patience with this POS has now been exhausted. Why praise is being heaped upon developers for releasing a patch that still fails to bring the product up to the standard it should have been on release, and drops the already appalling frame rate still further, mystifies me. I will check back in 12 months or so to see if anything has really improved. But I'm only doing that in the vain attempt to not totally lose the £50 I was conned out of to begin with. That's the only thing saving it from being binned. Fifty quid! I must have been nuts!! |
You whine like a little beech! Beta patch, I would bet that you have screwed up the installation of it! I don't hear many others having too many problems.

When I first booted up it took much longer to load to the point where I thought there was an error. Load times have reduced though longer than before - if you deleted the cache folder it may be worth trying again and give it a few minutes.

Awesome work guys, really, really nice.
I do have one question though, sorry if it has been asked before. What is the proper procedure once the patch goes live? Just let steam update or "uninstall" the beta by validating via steam before the patch goes live? Also right now I have steam cloud disabled, but automatic updates enabled, is this good or not? Thanks for any answers in advance. |
Quote:
The auto update is good. If the beta become official, it will update the game (the beta patch version number is lower, than official patch). |
