gametech wheel + gamepad?
 

I have a gametech wheel with only brake and throttle pedal. Iwould like to use a gamepad with rig´n´roll but either I´ll get the gamepad or the wheel.
I use xpadder but I`m not really sure how use the program. Can´t I make the gamepad to be connected to the keyboard so I could use the gamepad and the wheel.
And another thing How do I see which is the first usb id. :confused::confused:

I don't believe the game can handle both. I would stick to the wheel, and pedal system for realism, and enjoyment though.

can i play this game with a 360 controller?

I dont think so. I could be wrong though.

according to the games wikipedia page, it says it supports a gamepad so i wonder what kind of gamepad it supports.

GinXeng is correct. RnR does not support 360 game-pad according to others on this forum. Don't believe everything you read from Wikipedia.

This is not my intention to spam on this forum,
I was hoping to point some of things that should be corrected, and added to The Game and i got misunderstood.


Last week i found some clues how to made game playable. Regarding to my previous experience with LFS R-Factor, Richard Burns Rally and regarding to posts: #23 & #24 and after experyments:

Logitech Profiler:
Overall effects: 50-60%
Springs: 50-60%
Dampers: 50-60%
Centering spring: checked 0%
Allow game to adjust settings: checked
Pedals:seperated
Steering lock: 900 deg

in-game settings:
force feedback setting (DOES NOT WORK so skip it...)
steering sensivity: 60-70% (seems to change deadzones and linearity at once!)


And after using this all values: CLOSE LOGITECH PROFILER

Game is playable.
Steering will never be linear, and has some lag
Setting different values for:spring/ damper effects changes nothing.
Once i menaged to make force feedback effects at good, realistic level, but with one thing: forces was inverted.
So: Game needs better force feedback compability, and more advanced steering controls

Dude. Poor FFB response from the game. The problem is the same for me. If you used to play rF, RBR, iRacing, GTR, LFS.... You'll never be satisfied with the work of the steering wheel in this game. It makes no sense to solve. Incomplete support for FFB and plug-in does not exist in this game for the steering wheel. It makes no sense to worry. GL

That's not quite true. It's works flawlessly for me, and others. I feel all the effects that I'm suppose to.

Yes. This is typical. I'll understand.
I'll give an example. You'll walk. Then you buy a moped and you'll love the fact that everywhere you don 't waste time and quickly. This is the case of RNR. But we are what we play hardcore simulations, we used to ride in the car and suddenly you're forced to go wrong set for a slow moped .....
Just people who play these hardcore simulators will never work and enthusiasm function steering wheel in the RNR.
All my friends who play LFS, rF, GTR, RBR... have been sickened in RNR function because they are accustomed to different standards.

PS: I would recommend you try the demo at least some simulations. Just to see how these games work and how they use these high quality steering wheels as the G25, etc. If you do not like racing sims understand that, but just try and see what the wheel can be miracles when the game is able to handle 100% of the wheel.
It is true that it is very cumbersome for the novice to set the wheel in the HC simulator because these games have many features and implementation of specific adaptation + real FFB plugins etc. This requires experience setting for this type of game.

I'm saying is that fellow Karl Morytz will never be satisfied because it is accustomed to a different dimension to gaming. That is all

I don't have any racing games aside from RnR, but I do have other types of games that I use the G25 for. For me I don't have an issue, and a lot of my family & friends don't either. Once my brother showed me how to tweak it for specific games, I found it to be enjoyable, and everything works as it should. Maybe you don't like it, or you're use to it in your own way, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work for others.

That is almost true except from ".. never...":) , and that was why i posted request for more steering options.
There are people there, same as I, who would love to use some more of our "toys" possibilities to simulate FF effects in ANY driving game.

I don’t know if this is a problem with the game or something I’m doing wrong. If this post is in the wrong place, please move it.

My problem is my setting are not being saved. I’m playing the game with a Logitech Driving Force GT ™ steering wheel. When I assign a task/function to a button on the wheel, it plays OK until I re-load the game. Then I have to re-assign the function again. For example, if I assign ‘display map’ to button 3 on the wheel, it works just fine. But I have to assign it again next time I play the game.

I think I’m doing it right. After I assign a function to a button, I click on ‘apply’ and then OK. I then ‘continue’ my game. I have to do this each time I play the game.

Some functions/buttons are remembered, some not.

Is this a fault with the game or my steering wheel?

I had this problem myself. It's a long process, and you need to do it only once. You need to go to Documents\My Documents\My Games\RigNRoll_eng\Your Name\Double-Click on Configuration Settings (it's the one with your name on it with the sprocket symbol). It took about 45 minutes to get it right where I want it. Your preference may differ, but this is my set up using Windows 7x64 file location directory. Once you find it, scroll down until you get to here:

Is the game compatible with my G25 and, is it possible to configure 18 speeds on it... not the first 6...

like, 1 to 6, press whatever button, going back to 1st acting like the 7th etc...

Yes it is compatible, and no you can't change it to 18 speeds. At least not yet.:)

I just bought a G27 a few days ago (tired of trying to drive with KB) but i've got a problem.
The problem is with the gearbox:
All speed work except "Neutral".
Anybody else have that problem?

I've tried (just to see) with Hummer 4X4 and there,the gearbox work flawlesly (neutral is working automaticaly)

I hope someone know how to fix it because i can live with the unrealistic clutch but the gear not going in neutral...

not sure if this in the right place or not but i wondered if anyone might have the answer to this,when i start the game and configure the buttons on my controller to what i want it works fine but if i quit out the game back to desktop then when i start the game again my configurations have changed and i have to redo them again,any ideas as to why this is happening...:confused:

I had the same problem. Then USA Trucker gave me the answer.

Mouse Pointer Problem
 

Hey

New here so here goes.

I load up Rig'n'Roll, press escape to get away from the 5,4,3,2,1, thingy and get to the main menu. I move to mouse to click on the menu buttons but the on screen pointer does not move.

I have tried messing with control and video setting using the keyboard (slow) but it did not seem to work.

Hi there New here so bear with me. I have just bought R'N'R and found it quite fun but i am uesing a old MS FFB wheel with the game so far i have found it works fine unlike some of the postings i have read here the only thing i have issue with is when you get an incoming CB call all FF disapears which can land you in the armco if you are not ready for it is this a common fault or just somthing im going too have too get uesd too.

Question, when you set the feedback on high for steering wheel or force feedback does this afect the sensitivity for the sterring wheel?.
Reason why i asked is because when im doing a turn, it rarely happens but, the truck loses control randomly. Is this because i need to repair my tires or purchase new ones or just the feedback/sensitivity?

I have not heard of this problem. It could be a problem with both the game, and your MS steering wheel. If it really hampers playability, I would just turn off the FF, and see how it goes.

I don't believe it's a feedback issue. Mine is set to max also. Being that it doesn't happen often, I can only assume it's a repair problem. If you're losing control, your tires may be listed in red at the repair shop instead of the usual yellow.

hmmm it seemed it was my tires ( i was using the standard tires )
So should i just repair them or do a full upgrade?

ok am looking for some advice,i currently am using a hand held controller but this has the effect that no matter how little or hard i turn going round bends and corners i get tyre screech constantly which i think is the downside of using a hand held controller,now i cant afford a logitech g25 or g27 so was wondering if anyone can let me know if a cheaper steering wheel would do the job and if it will work ok with RnR any advice appreciated....:)

Just wondering if somebody could tell me if you could select your own gear pattern. or if it's a set pattern.

Change it in what way?

I think he wants to change the position of gears. Eg. different gearbox. Some one reverse gear position 1 Some position 6 ... Generally a first grade position 1 or position 2 first stage or first stage of the third position ....
If you want change you have to delete custom setting file in the folder with the game. Unfortunately I did not play RNR has a very long time and I can not remember the file name: /

Ok, I managed to solve the issue by setting the font size to 100% in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display . I have a 26'' monitor and my native resolution is 1920x1200, therefore I need to set my fonts to 150% in order to be able to read text.

So, a bug to fix in next patch: The mouse pointer in RnR no longer moves when setting large fonts via Display Properties (150% in my case). Using "Disable display scaling for high DPI settings" for the rnr executables also has no effect.

What makes you think so? If 18 WoS can do it, then it can be done for R'n'R. It's just a matter of re-doing the controll panel for those that don't have a wheel system.

How about the left, right, up, and down keys instead of using the mouse. That what I do

I'm quite sure he is aware of that. He's talking about control of the mouse to steer like 18 WoS. I don't think he was born in a cave.;)

You can do that in xpadder but I'm not sure it Will be any easier to control. Just spend 20 bucks on a wheel

I did it on a Logitech G25. It may work for you. Just read the post instructions.

You also have to go on the "Logitech Profiler" to do additional changes (like sensitivity/feedback).

Neutral gear with G27

After a long time trying to fix that problem (and even taking a break from RNR because of this) i come back here to see if someone can help me.
the problem is that neutral gear is not working (it's suppose to go to "neutral" if i don't select any speed but in my case, it's staying in the last gear engaged (so if i'm using 2nd , i stop the truck, put the gearbox on neutral, it's staying in the 2nd)

Is it normal? if not, somebody with a g27 can explain how they avoid this problem?

It's been a while since I last played the game but I just press the clutch (G25 Owner) To go back to neutral while no gear is selected

Thanks for the answer, in my case it's unfortunately not working...i got in neutral only when i change the gear (for a second) but as soon as i remove my foot from clutch, it's in the gear i selected (even i the gearbox is suppose to be in neutral :()
i modified my "setting" with notepad to have the clutch for clutch and neutral but once in game, neutral is unused :(
I'm gonna search a bit more because lately,i'm in a RNR mood (waiting for Big Race and Vegas)

This may be the dumbest answer ever but have you got clutch selected in game through options/controls/wheel then click clutch and press clutch on pedals to select it for that operation?

and actually,i feel like the clutch isn't working as it suppose (maybe because it's a g27 (i've seen a g25 profile but not a g27 profile...))
It's like the clutch is just a keyboard key and not a "slider" (to use the name given by the game)

The clutch is just a keyboard key for me too there is no clutch control as such for me. Basically I press clutch and change gear that is it. I can also manipulate King of the road in the same fashion as Rig N Roll wich has 5 to 12 gears or something been a while since I played it. Your clutch feature will not be like RFactor or LFS it's a shame I know

Mmmh strange, are you sure that in your case, if you press clutch go neutral it's staying neutral ? if the clutch sensibility is the same, maybe it's the same for the rest...

In my case, to detail the exact behavior of the system , I press clutch, change the gear and as long as my foot is on the clutch, i'm on neutral (if i release, i'm in the gear selected) but if i just put the gearbox on neutral, it's staying in the last gear used...The only way to engage permanently neutral is to assign a key (or in my case, i assigned the 6th gear (never used except for the last mission)) to stay in neutral...

It's sad that they haven't made it like those...especially since the game recognize properly H gearbox (contrary to most Truck simulator)...It's even more sad for me since i bought this wheel for RNR and Tdu only...

I can change gear like 3rd to 4th and nothing will happen until I dip the clutch.

i have a G25. you must use the clutch to go back in neutral.

i have a small, remedy for the very jerky steering:

i put the sensitivaty to 1. i have a logitech G25, and i can steer better.
this will take a long time to get used to, but is more realistic.(imo)

Maybe this was answered before but is there any way to get the second stick on my Saitek P990 gamepad to act like the mouse to move around, the rest is working nice but having to constantly adjust the view with my mouse is really annoying.

how can i adjust the sensitivity of the steering im useing a steelseries 3GC Controller from gme stop and the steering input is way to touchy i tyed adjusting in in the options but that aint enough can i adjust it in the game files r sumthing

Hopefully someone can help you with your steering problem. I don’t have that steering system, but I assume it came with a program to adjust the sensitivity issue, and be able to over-ride the in-game option menu. I know the Logitech G25 does.

I have started playing this game again after a long break (not that i play RnR for that long the first time) and seens i last played i have got my self the Logitech G27 that works great except for one thing, the clutch and gears dont work for me.

I have read all 17 pages on this topic and i did see a post from USA Trucker where he posted his G25 setup (the config file or what ever its called)
Here`s my dilema, im not that god with computers, i can read what the "config" file says but i dont understand it so it might as well be chinese to me :P

So do i just need to copy the relevant lines like pa_VVK_CARV_CLUTCH="JS1-F" to get my (in this case "clutch") to work?

Edit: I found out my problem :) for some reason the game would not let me make changes to the key bindings to keyboard or my G27. But now for some reason i can.

Mouse Camera Movement
 

Anyone know how to disable mouse camera movement!? i just set my mouse as a driving solution but while i steer the camera is moving as well at the direction of mouse movement! any ideas? maybe change some parameter in some document? i heard in pedal to the metal that in my doc/games .... there was a file that contains mlookup, mlookdown, mloodleft, mlookright... if y change this into camera 1 it cause the mouse to stop moving the screen while driving .... pls help

Hello Everybody, This is my First Post and question in this forum :grin:
I have Rig n roll installed and everything was working well... but when i was playing the game i found that the direction of the truck in the game turns right no matter what i do, i must constantly turning left because if i stop giving direction my truck turns to the right and crash :(
i checked the sensivity controls option and nothing happend.

Im using The Keyboard, i have an Xbox 360 Controller...but the keys for this are too many so i stick with the Keyboard :-P
Is there a solution to this problem? how can i fix it?

Many people have had this problem. Make sure all control divices (such as Xbox 360) are DISCONNECTED from the computer (except the mouse). In the game menu, go to settings then controls, and make sure you are in Keyboard Mode, then varify that steer left is left arrow & steer right is right arrow. Your problem should be solved. :)

Ok so I've had this game for a while. I have a wheel and i have hooked it up but whenever i try to drive it throws the wheels hard over instead of turning smoothly. I've calibrated the wheel several times but i don't know what the problem is. Can anyone help?

It would help to know what Wheel Device you are using. That being said, follow the directions on this post I did a couple of years back. It will over-ride the in-game device detection, and configuration issues that others like yourself have had. It worked for them. See Here

Im not sure if it does. What the manual says exactly and I quote "2-in-1 Racing wheel with vibration function for PS2*/PC"

It also says Sector 7 and Xtreme gaming. And if you copy and paste what i put in my last reply to google you can find it at the source.

Let us know when you find out. Everything ever sold anywhere has a brand name & model. This way if anyone has your type of wheel they can help you better. You shouldn't ask us to search for you. ;)

I found something! It does state that its imported for ORBYX electronics.

There's just not enough info. Maybe a couple of good close-up pics would help someone ID it for you. ;)

I'm new here and just came across this forum while looking for a manual/instruction sheet that could give me the key set for a wheel and pedal set for Rig&Roll. I've only spent a little bit of time with the game. I have played several of the 18 WoS series games and I have to agree that half the fun of a truck sim game (at least for me) is hooking/unhooking and jocking around the trailers. I really prefer runnin' doubles. There was a time when I actually went on a forum and asked for the secret to back in to unload a set of doubles. I got a simple answer......Practice!

Anyway, I just wanted to say that as a newbie to R&R, the game is completely overwhelming. Can't say much else since I have a long way to go with it. That is if I ever do get halfway good at it.

I do have a simplified question about setting up Rig&Roll. Do I have to switch to the Wheel and Pedal format every time I want to program a function into a key of the Wheel and Pedal format as opposed to programming the keyboard?

Any enlightenment into this enjoyable pastime would really be appreciated.

Just like the last guy, we need to know what your Wheel Device is. We can’t assume that everyone has the same. We need the Brand Name, and Model of your device. Such as mine is a Logitech G25. Please help us to help you. I can’t count how many times you guys leave this important info out :rolleyes: You won’t find double trailers in this game. Hooking up a trailer is the downside of this game. It’s just not in the cards. Your last question depends on the first one. ;)

How can I play with wheel and keyboard? My wheel have only 10 functions. Settings options are: keyboard or wheel. In other games I have a third option: wheel + keyboard. Can I do in this games?
