I'd say a background, maybe just a vague blur or something. And I'd smudge the props a bit, so you don't see the edges at the trailing side, near the motion blur. For the rest, it looks good. Did it all yourself?

does photobucket let you add layers ??? if so add your background as a layer then make sure the background is the bottom layer ?? if that makes sence ?

What program do you use? I recommend Photoshop, easy to make random backgrounds with it. I've heard Gimp is a similar program and free, but never used it. And good luck with creating tracers etc... that might be quite tough..

Well, for some random, blurry background you can try this: select two colors and go to Filter -> Render -> Clouds. As far as I can tell that's what Dazz used for your current sig. Just google some tutorials if you want to learn more.
I can whip you up something if you want as well.

This is what I've got so far. Since you wanted a dogfight seen I went with the realistic background instead of a blurry random one. I'm not sure how I'm going to make the tracers, but I'll figure something out. Tomorrow that is, I'm finished for today :).
P.S. Please don't mind the faulty details here and there, remember the image will be smaller in your sig ;)
P.P.S Wasn't Sonderkommando Elbe the crasher's squadron? :P
EDIT: Added a blurry background, maybe you like it more. Your choice.

The first one with the landscape is the best of the two. However I think the aircraft is to large for the picture size, as it compromises the perspective and picture composition. Make it a bit smaller and the pic should be good to go.

As for adding in tracers, use another picture with tracer fire and copy/paste the tracers in to that one.

I agree.. I was thinking of adding another plane, but that's tricky with perspective, lighting, etc. I'll see what Reddisback's got to say about it.
About the tracers, I think it's a bad idea to copy/paste it. Tracers are kind of smoke-like, and therefore a bit see-through. I think it's better just to create them. It should be possible, I'll just have to mess around with filters etc. I'll see what I can come up with.

I was bored..........

With a simple Blue and White clouds render:

With the Cliffs of Dover (awesome song btw) as the background:

@ soviet ace this isnt a siggy mate im just experimenting with different styles etc so just ignore this post unless of couse you like it

Its a random pic from Google images. And I used photoshot 7 to add in the "crispness" and lettering. In PS7 theres an option called "blending" that allows you to add in lots of effects to lettering, its a really nice feature.

Ahhh of course! That is a really good feature of PS, unfortunatly making 3d or styled texts in CS2 is far to much hassle for me to bother with!

Not sure AC, its not bad. I had a thought for one though. Might take a bit of time to make but its basically a diving frontal shot of a Spit in the lower half of the pic and above it a flight of golden seraphs "on the wing" as it were.

Sounds like it could work out.. it'll take some time though, especially because I have the drawing skills of a retarded monkey..:o. Worth a shot when I've nothing to do :). Sounds good.
This one didn't take that long.. an hour or two. The problem is wings don't look that good in sillhouette.

how about using a pic like this one but instead of the seraph coming out of the water have it coming out of clouds im sure if you look far enough you would find a good pic and i think it would look cool the seraph in the clouds and a spit in a diving attack under it would tie it all together well ??
just my two cents worth

I don't necessarily need an image of a seraph to make one.. I can make a seraph out of a normal picture (see avatar), but it takes time. And I'd have to find an image of someone diving . All in all it's possible, but it'll take time. The coming out of a cloud seems like a very good idea though..

I just made an acount for photoshop. but to be honest it is really limited on what you can do with your picture. the thing that i really liked with Bucket is that everything was easy to make and to handle it. Shop however, has the oposite; it is too complicated?

Sigh, the name is Reddisback for those intrested. same goes with Bucket;

Honestly who can afford CS4 though unless your downloading it illegally? It's $800 last time I checked. It's ridiculous, luckily there are free programs like GIMP which can offer most of the good features you need for sigs or any other kind of digital art (although I will say I've worked with CS4 before, and it's unbelievable how much easier and cleaner it is than GIMP)

The only problem is that for me it can take a while to make something really good, which I haven't had lately. I'm thankful dazz could make this one. :)

Ancient Seraph 10-22-2009 08:30 PM

@ Reddisback: did you see the sig I made? I know it's not perfect, but it's something.

The problem for my new sig (spit diving out of cloud with seraphim following) is finding the cloud base :o. I've got the spit, will probably find a diving person, but I just can't find a cloud base... anyone who can find one?

mattd27 10-22-2009 08:33 PM

There are cloud brushes available for free download, then you can brush clouds onto an image that doesn't have them:

http://qbrushes.com/nature/cloud-brushes/

I have these brushes myself and I've got to say they're great. :) Will that work?

The clouds are beautiful. But it's still not like the cloud base I'm looking for. At first I was looking for nice-looking clouds, but most good-looking clouds only look good from miles away. However, when you see a spit diving down from a cloud, it's from close by, and you'll only see the base.
