Saw it on TV recently. They showed it at the 70th anniversary of the German attack of Poland. Really a great movie!

yeah, extremely accurate, the actor that played hitler actually started watching hitler's speeches 3 months before the filming, and as a result could mimic him really precisely. lots of people reacted negatively to him taking the role of hitler however, political correctness gone mad...

although one scene is kinda unrealistic... at the end lots of women surrender to the soviets, and they are mostly unharmed, but in real life most these women would have been dragged off and raped almost instantly... some of them were never seen again...

also i have to sift through em cos some of em could be offensive to some people

may I recommend The Ninth Day...

not a gun battle in sight, no tanks, no planes...

but THE most intelligent exploration of the Gestapo Modus Operandi and how it controlled people...in this case a Catholic Priest on "holiday" from Dachau, but it could of been anyone... based on a true story and actual memoirs its THE MOST powerful bit of cinema I've seen in years. I caught it by fluke on SBS in Australia, the wife was glued to it aswell. The war of words, control and ideological head-screwing is incredible. If you are in the mood for thought food this film is a real mindf**k. Superb. Like Downfall best watched in the original German with subtitles. Not as broad and immediate as Downfall but somehow more intimate...

Thanks guys! I haven't laughed that hard in awhile, and as I'm sure as most of the others are funny as heck, I can't help but to laugh hard at this one because I do actively play 1943 and understand the aggravation at the game and this person hit it right on the head!

another good film, although not german, is kenneth brannagh's Conspiracy, all about a secret meeting about the final solution to the jewish question, its truely un-nerving the ease at which they discuss the extermination of a race.

and its also a very good demonstration of psychological bullying by the gestapo.

worth a look-see, only 95 minutes long.
