WHat you must remember about the SPit IX in the test is that its the 1942 Merlin 61 version, of which only a couple of hundred were produced and which was not much better in climb than the 1942/43 MkV's. Top speed however was much better as is shown in the tests.

The early 1943 Merlin 66 version which we have in game is a much better climber.
