Great to hear, Salmo! You wouldn't perchance have a mission or two (just basic, nothing fancy) tucked away which has some dynamic weather effects in 'em? I'm willing to dive into the FMB to explore these features, but I'm not too savvy with the FMB and a pre-made mission would be a great place to start this exploration. :)

Here you go Snapper. Try landing a Hurricane at Lympne with crosswinds. You'll find there is only one runway (facing into the wind) to land at. The other runways you'll be trying to crosswind land like in the video below. Remember to watch the windsocks :)

Thanks, Salmo, I'll give it a try when I'm back at my PC tonight. :)

I'm very interested in the dynamic weather - cloud build up, lightning, rain, etc. Probably bring most systems to its knees, but would be worth a look!

I can live with low resolution graphics but what's destroys the realism is the lack of weather, wind gusts and cloud layers.

But your fine with incorrect performance, and just bad AI/radio coms?
Personally I don't care about weather (dont get me wrong it would be nice to have-BUT...), until all aircraft perform accurately, and my wingmen can take my commands, oh and not to forget a decent AI to fight the game isn't worth starting.

S!

Well..IL-2 is a mixed bag. For offline players it offers absolutely nothing as a stock install. With add-ons it becomes a lot better but the AI hampers the experience beyond frustration.

Graphically too much legacy from original IL-2 like the "LOD sphere" and popping up buildings/clouds/grass etc, some effects and list goes on. The much touted "future proof" gfx engine does not mean it should require a damned CRAY to run it, but having a solid base on which to build and add features. Wasn't it modular structure in CoD? Really hope they pull the act together in the sequel.

Weather and all that would be nice to have if implemented right, but not a true requirement if it takes too much power to use it feasibly. The game itself while having clear improvements over IL-2 just feels like a quick revival of the original series added with some extra graphics. IL-2 franchise has been alive over 12 years now and the devs SHOULD have a grasp how to make things and how not IF they have even reviewed their work.

So yes, by all means bring features in IF they work, but the core game must work before that. And as a sidenote, Wild Bill Stealey from the long gone MicroProse is starting a new flight sim project it seems :)

Every game made untill now have a "LOD sphere"... I really don't understand why people still talking about that! It's BORING!

DCS have "translucid" buildings, by the way... They are ugly as hell!

The graphics in CloD are ok and in today standards VERY GOOD! We have GREAT aircraft models, good effects, nice terrain...

And i'll say this just once: "offline" players need to become online players... AI is just too stupid in ANY combat flight sim!

Just that! Bye!

Have you tried the AI in BOB11 WOV?
Why "should" offline players become online, you are then totally reliant on the internet, you are reliant on being around when everyone else is,sorry that argument doesn't stand - the AI should be clever enough to give an offline player the illusion they are fighting a competent person.

Only the "illusion"... I like to fight against a REALLY GOOD enemy, and only a human can do that.

By the way, today we all have internet access. It's amazing that we now can fight against and with human controlled aircraft.
