I'm not sure about the terms of the warrent for Assagnes arrest but what does the "Human Rights Watch" web site say about a womans right to have protected sex? I'ld say that thats a fairly basic Human right. If Assange has been accused of violated that girls rights then he should go through the process of clearing his name.

To me his actions betray his guilt. Rather than show boating around giving speaches from windows he should face the charges against him. Simple as that

His guilt is far from certain and until he is tried and found guilty he is innocent. From what I know a conviction is not likely but the spectre of extradition to the USA would be enough to scare anyone into holing up in an embassy.

Aside from that, an arrest warrant is not a charge in itself. The Swedes want to question him but I don't think they've charged him with rape yet. It's the threat of extradition that is the problem. I doubt it was pressure from the Swedes that caused the UK government to threaten invading the Ecuadoran embassy.

asange isnt concerned about what he has to face in sweden itself, the accusations are very minor and most were withdrawn already by the women who originally filed them (it is NOT a sexual assault issue)

the problem is that sweden has a very poor reputation for extraditing people to the usa on very minor and frivolous accusations/charges from american courts

once asange is in sweden, even if the charges there are dismissed against him (as they most likely will be), they will still extradite him to the usa (sweden has refused to exclude that already). and that is where the vindictive "shoot the messenger" American legal system will make an example of him to dissuade anybody else ever sending papers to wissle blowing institutions

please note that the usa itself has NEVER complied with any extradition requests of its own nationals to a 3e country EVER. yet they play hardball with other countries to get their own nationals extradited to the usa on all kinds of flimsy charges (brittain has sent some of its nationals, and so has sweden etc). for a "wanted" australian national to land in sweden on some flimsy legal pretext, its a quick plane ride to the american hell hole they got waiting for him

The arrest warrant has apparently been withdrawn but no reason given. There is a still a charge of molestation being investigated.

Interesting.

You might want to read this link.

http://justice4assange.com/US-Extradition.html#WSJA

Especially the paragraph below.

- Sweden has in the recent past violated international treaties in relation to surrendering foreign nationals into US custody to be interrogated and tortured (case of extraordinary rendition, Agiza v. Sweden at the European Court of Human Rights). Furthermore, Amnesty International and the UN Committee against Torture criticised Sweden because it rendered two refugees to the CIA who were then tortured under the Egyptian regime of Hosni Mubarak. (A documentary with the testimony of tortured refugees who had been granted asylum and then rendered to the CIA by Sweden was aired on Swedish television on 5 October 2011.

Assaulted? You might want to read this link below, as one of them doesn't seem to be too cut up about it. Puts into question the credibility of this whole politically motivated fiasco.

Or maybe this one if it seems a tad bit biased. ;)

Regardless of what we say or believe he's innocent until proven guilty, and until a court says he raped or sexually assaulted someone then he didn't. Regardless of editorial bias the following is a fun read.
