I can use my hardware and configure my software, do cheap upgrades to achieve the performance needed, and i'm not a computer expert...

This sim is GREAT! If you can't enjoy it, it's not so hard to fix things...

I have a similar setup to yours (I know you said your out, but maybe you'll still read this) and the game runs great for me.
And the cpu is not outdated, Bulldozer does not seem to be the great improvement after all. And middle end vga? Last time I looked it was just below to other single gpus. There is still a ton of gpus out there for people to buy that are far inferior to yours and will never ever run this sim satisfactorily.

Plus the future plan as per Luthier will give us a 50% perfromance increase so more good news there. The dev team kept everything they promised to us in the last two betas. Luthier seems to be straight forward without any bs. They are making great progress and I am quite happy with the patch we have gotten.

It's not "normal" game play when these stutters have got worse. I was not having any over water, but after 15950 have them there also. Strange that other sims can have smooth playdown low, (ROF for one) but this struggles to achieve that. Sure I believe that this sim will be really great, at the moment as "Ace of Aces" says the glass is "half full". Features that were supposed to be available at release and reported by the developers as having been broken somehow prior to release still have not been fixed, and that was about 7 months ago.

No stutters here, definite FPS inclrease, however slight. Smooth as silk...
Until it CTD's!
overall though Very happy with this.

I was online in ATAG tonight with no issues flying low, and my machine is a lot older.

Even managed to bag one of those evil Huns.

Game looked good, though it was a bit hazy. Pit looked good, sounds were good. Works for me.

I have a similar system and get only minor stutters.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 at 3GHz.

4 GB of DDR2

AMD HD6870

Creative X-Fi also!

What settings do you run at, El?

ok, dumb question:
My friend helped me build my computer about 2 years ago, we bought the parts and put it together and all that. But now I can't recall my complete system specs. Is there a place in my PC I can look for the names of the hardware and their specs?
I have win7 64 bit that's all i know. lol

In the Start Menu, you can right click on "Computer" and hit Properties to get a quick look.

For a more in-depth look you want Device Manager which I think you can access by clicking a link in the top-left of the Computer Properties thing.

Yep, glass is more than half full for me on the game.

Running the sim just fine (except for the slow down when involved in furballs in the clouds)

Settings mostly to max, trees at medium, textures at original.

i7 940 2.93gHz (Not Overclocked)
GTX 580 1.5gb ram
12gb system ram
Game installed on SSD drive
Running it at 1920 x 1200 on Windows 7 Pro, 64bit

Game is smooth as silk most of the time as I said. Even when weaving in and out of larger bomber formations in multiplayer.

My video card is pretty good, yes, but all the rest of it is pretty cheap stuff now.

My guess is that the people who are still having major issues with the game are mostly people who are running 32bit systems, probably XP.
