by chance where did you install the game? if C:\program files (x86) then try moving it some where out side that folder and install like this, C:\Ubisoft\il2 cliffs of dover\ make sure you run as administrator. right click the icon click on properties and advanced run as administrator.

I have tried both of these things, but the game is still crashing when I try to start the launch.exe

I've also tried switching from full screen to windowed and the game still crashes.

I've heard Steam{if that's where you got it} changes the game properties on it's own. It changes the compatibility to win xp SP3 on it's own{not always} on a win 7 machine. I am assuming you have win 7. I don't know if this happened but it's worth a check anyways.

What are your render settings in your config file? Should be Render D3D10.

Try re-installing the game. You can backup first in steam, delete the local content, manually delete the 1C folder in My Docs and then re-install.

480 runs the game pretty well - they are powerful cards, just very hot!

Changing from Nvidia to Nvidia, you keep the drivers. I never ever had to reinstall the drivers when upgrading from 8800->GTX260->GTX460->GTX570. But I always keep the Nvidia driver up2date.

I always delete with driver sweeper in safe mode boot and reinstall for every driver change even with the same card. Too many problems with too many games.

The Nvidia driver package does an uninstall of the old drivers by itself. Never had a problem with that for quite a while now.

I used driversweeper and re-installed nvidia drivers for the card. I also tried re-installing an older driver version, but no luck.

I have Render D3D10_0. Is this right?

I am using Windows Vista x64 bit. I dont know if its Steam or Vista, because I was running the game using a GTS 250. So the game does run on my machine and operating system, but not with the GTX 480. This is the only game that does not run, so I assume it is something in the config.

I have uninstalled and re-installed the game, and I have deleted the 1C softclub folder, but I am not having any luck launching the game at all.

Did you look to see if it's running under vista or a compatibility mode?

Your render settings are correct.

I reread your posts and noticed that you have reinstalled your old sound card. Have you downloaded the latest drivers for the sound card? Alternatively, you can temporarily disable your sound card via the control panel and see if it helps.
