Steam is a fantastic program and i used it with 1946 and a bunch of other games and have no issues modding with it. You can also turn off automatic updates.

Its just smarter to have all your games in one place , you dont have to manage discs which degrade over time and CD keys which you can lose since gone are the days of actual jeweled cases.

i will never understand the hate steam gets in this place

It's not hate, it's personal preference. For example, i don't want to have all my games on one online account. A single snafu on their part and i lose all my games and before someone says it's impossible, look at what happened to the playstation network recently :-P

In the case of anti-piracy it's not really effective, Steam is the most pirated platform and pirates prefer the steam version of any blockbuster game to do their thing on: they will pre-order, pre-load, crack it (since it's one method for all steam games) and have it up on torrents as much as a week before release.
It's way too easy and even updates and DLC packs are circulating.

As far as real benefits go, the only one is that it gets the game a bigger exposure and a better cut of the selling price for 1c. Everything else is just steam doing what anyone can do on their own anyway, which boils down to personal preference (people who like automation use it, those who like manual tinkering don't).

I'm not going to lie, it works as intended (mostly) expect the fact that it resets auto-updates to on whenever i run CoD and that i really dislike being unable to roll back a patch so i have to make backups of each version and use up my hard drive space, but if i get a way to disable it and only turn it on for patching i will definitely do so.

It sucks that i dont get to play it now , but if there is two months to patch of the game it should be running pretty good when it comes out , and will feel more like a complete game.

Keep up the good work guys !

Well if you think the bible is true you wont get to play it after saturday as some religous wackos think the rapture is saturday and baby jebus is coming to take all his believers with him so if you think hes real can you leave me your bank account number and PIN so your money wont go to waste, also could you sign over your house to me before saturday!!

If they want to get the physical disks stamped, boxed and out to the retailers by July 19th I suspect they need to go gold by July 10th.Maybe enough time to squeeze one more official patch out by July 10th.

I have been working on gamesdistributor, steamgames can be golded months before launch, because there is allways 0day patch when it unlocks in steam.

Some steamgames doesen,t even be installed from cd at all, all the data comes from steam, if i'm not wrong cod is just like that, you don't even install it from cd. Not sure because i bought it from steam.

Actually we got many steamgames on warehouse 3 weeks

GuiltySpark, I believe something is wrong with your programming. You of all people should know, it was the Forerunners that created the Halo array, not this guy "God".;)

Stay on topic guys- i dont want to have put up with religious arguments in a forum dedicated to a flightsim. Take your arguments elsewhere.
