3.) Download the MOD that is available which give a tremendous improvement on the frame rate FPS by removing some "unecessary" (for the current state of pain and misery most users experience) graphics thus making the game playable in every PC. !

Been trawling the various threads with no luck, where are the details/location for these 'mods' and are these the ones that can only be used 'off-line' that Luthier referred to in his patch update?

lower your resolution

The new patch (curretly beta version availble, final patch probably on Monday) solves a lot of these issues:

No need for the MOD as they put the option to lower the graphic settings in the menu.
Kudos to the guy who worked in order to make the MOD possible as he was the main motivator to make this official ;-)
(I am a great believer of "pressure groups") :-)

Besides this, the game now uses well four CPUs so Quad-core is the CPU to have for this game!

In fact it will use 6 cores - but from what I can tell does not use hyperthreading, so best bang for your buck may be a 2500k as a 2600k with hyperthreading may not help - certainly my cpu only uses 6 cores - the other 6 hyperthreads lay dormant (The only thing I have that uses them is for video encodding - then they work !!).

Hey Athos
Did you do any change on your conf.ini...along the following lines....
2 cores - 3
3 cores - 7
4 cores - 15
6 cores - 63
8 cores - 255
for the ProcessAffinityMask=?

335th_GRAthos 04-16-2011 10:05 AM

Actually, I do not!

Sometime ago somebody (sorry did not keep his name) told me that Win7 is pretty good handling the CPU cores itself so I removed the line from my conf.ini

It is true, all my cores are working now, INCLUDING the Hyperthreading ones!
I have overall CPU utilisation of 57% out of eight cores (which means that my four real CPU cores are working 100%).

Happy Flying!

You are right Athos,
I did a little experimentation and although the ProcessAffinityMask=XX line does have an effect, commenting it out (default) will let the IL2CoD use whatever it is available CPU wise (lastest beta patch).

Although, I have not seen the hyperthreading cores in action yet, all my 6 cores are showing around 30% activity on the free hunt mission (loaded to max) in any of the settings below:
;ProcessAffinityMask=63
ProcessAffinityMask=63
ProcessAffinityMask=255

There is still CPU processing room left unused, so I am assuming this why I don't see the hyperthreading cores waking up.

Interesting,

on my PC I see all cores (real+hyperthreading ones) working:

THIS IS PHOTO PATCHED (ver. beta 14....) 3840x resolution, move sliders to the right to see the game

Anyway, Quad core (at least) is the way to go in the future.
