The pilots were supposed to use their right eye for aiming, I think, just like most people fire rifles.

It's our virtual self being a cyclops which is messing things up for us again, making us have to fiddle with head positions. I think we'd be better off with at least the option to make our virtual 3D viewpoint that of the right eye of a RL pilot. We'd feel like we were sitting slightly offset in the cockpit, but the sight would work without worrying about head repositioning.

The 109 gun sight is very hard to use, I can't see it being as hard to use in real life. There's no way German pilots could have used such a clumsy aiming system with their boom and zoom tactics. It might look like its where it should be but just not this hard.

109 gunsight need some work. Something like IL2 sturmovik. It's really hard to AIM!

After hitting f10 and toggling independent mode and I hold down the RMB all it does is bring up an options menu? How do I center the gun sight with that? Any help would be appreciated.

It WAS really hard to aim then!!!
Remember that this game tries to simulate, not to remove rl obstacles.
There is always the option to dumb it down with no headshakes, etc...

I use track it and after a while have fourfold it quite easy to get the sights up in a dogfight without the use of shift+f1.

It's just a matter of practice makes perfection, everything is much harder than it was in il2:1946 :)

I don't know why you're getting a menu. That's wierd. What options menu is it, out of interest?

What I do is hit F10 and then click and hold the Right mouse button and just drag it to the right a bit until I can get the crosshairs in the gunsight, then release the rmb.
Unfortunately if you go out of the cockpit to maybe watch a flyby (F3 in this case) and then hit F1 again, you have to re-centre the crosshairs.
