Contrails?

Looking at several photos of actual dogfights that took place in England and Europe, I notice that many of them were at high altitudes, probably over 15000ft, which caused a high number of Contrails in most cases. I don't see these in CoD in most videos, and was wondering if the Modders have given any thought to including these future Mods. Certainly they're not needed in the lower altitude battles, but I was just curious if it could be done. Whatever, you guys are just incredible with the modding for this game! My hat's off to you all!

Thanks for the video Arthur. I was wondering if I should take the time to redo those SweetFX colour profiles I put out. But the game looks fine as is, judging by the screenshots and your video.

Thanks Team Fusion.

Hello ContinuO,
I'm using the settings from a guy called Fifi. They're his BoS settings but they look amazing in Cliffs too!

Look at post number 20 in this thread;

http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/...whit-flightfx/

What are you actually comparing there?
The pictures are identical other than for the light/colour, so it doesn't seem to me that it can be a comparison between TF 4.0 and TF 4.3, because surely you'd have to restart the game and then the objects wouldn't be in the same place. Or am I wrong?

It's nothing to do with different versions of the game, Major. It's just a demonstration how the colours and light can be manipulated in the game using a post-processing effect called SweetFX. It also has FXAA injectors which helped give the game some anti-aliasing. Since Team Fusion has fixed that with this latest patch thats not important anymore but SweetFX also contains a Luma sharpening tool which can have a startling effect on the games textures.

I use an application called FlightFX to apply these changes, it's a really handy tool. It has no effect on framerates or online play either and can be applied to any game using DirectX. It can be enabled or disabled by a keyboard stroke. To take these screenies I merely paused the game and hit the print screen key.

What you do with it or not is a matter of personnal taste. Interesting effect though.

Nice pics Larry, Lowflyer.

If anyone out there is still using the SweetFX settings I put out a while ago for the default version of the game, here are some updated ones that should look pretty much the same when using the Team Fusion patches.

Not sure if the SweetFX utility these settings work in is even stable anymore as I've been getting game crashes while adjusting these settings, but anyway...

Very nice Larry, that's one of my favourite ever screens, testament to the amazing beauty of this sim, it's almost as good as a painting.

Not precisely a screenshot..
A long time ago I cut out this illustration from a old 1940 copy of LIFE Magazine.I always liked it because it was so different from other aviation art paintings I'd seen around back then esp. on model box tops. I thought the illustrator had done his homework on the aircraft as well. Now thanks to CloD we can all get closer or even better than this , but because the artist did it "by hand' it still stands up pretty well.Larry's pice up above sort of remended me of it...

Hallo Kastel,

You talk about these two men. C/O Douglas Bader and Willie Mc Knight (right).
http://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5eb02a1d.jpg

I thougt Crowley Milling (Hurricane P3175 LE-M) was Bader`s Wingman.
http://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/...psb28fdd7f.png
Larry69

Kastel 04-03-2014 07:17 PM

I googled who in the world could be the other guy in the Hurricane beneath/under McKnight. I-net came up with the name Bader among others.
So it was a wild guess.

I wonder if i would attack a large He111 group from 6 high.
A good number of pilots suggest a (low) 12 head-on attack in this situation..
as can be seen at 2:48 in this movie clip

Mr. Larry !! Excellent and innovative shots!

From the Battle of Britain film! France, May 1940.

'Get those bowsers away!'

'It's no use, they'll be here in half an hour!'

'....for the benefit of the uneducated, I'll translate'

major_setback 04-21-2014 03:53 PM

All great shots.
In that last one, are there 2 pilots in the same plane?
'Heartbreaker' has become a bone-crusher.

JG52Uther 04-21-2014 04:06 PM

Its a scene from the Battle of Britain movie! Great shots as always.
