I just registered to tell you the following: I bought an incomplete alpha techdemo for the prize of a full game, and the developers only have time for bad jokes that border on mocking.

I will never buy a game from 1C again.

The BOB game was way less advanced. Loved playing SWOTL and that's what got me into flight sims in the first place.

I started with this Simulator

As funny as this is, he made a mess of things for the moderators.

I choose to view Luthier's post as an update, since it technically contains an update. I choose to view that post as 100% better than nothing at all, and I'm content with that. Is it as good as I'd hope? Of course not. But I'll still take it.

You, on the other hand, do nothing but wail, moan and spew vitriol onto the boards with just about every post. If not doing the same makes me a joker, then so be it.

I would like a clarification from you as to why I can't really afford to be only a joker, if you please.

you obviously read only certain posts, cos there's plenty of useful posts made by me, have a look when you have time..

As for the request for a clarification, I'm afraid there's a lost in translation issue here, I wasn't referring to you, but to Luthier.

Good find,

I didn't know that! Great joke, finely played.

I actually do like the sim and its potential, despite being buggy and half finished. There's great, great possibilities with this engine.

What I don't like is that the lead developer of a game that we paid for feels entitled to behave like this, not as an alternative like "here's the updates.. now for the funny side of things, check this out..", but as "hey, here's what I think of you, you're just a bunch of whiney monkeys who's gonna do what I say and take anything I say for good".

I would really like to see what your reaction would be if you were at the receiving end of all this on another daily life situation: as someone else wisely posted, it's like having a sports car that you can enjoy every now and then, because you work all the week and have a family/chores to take care of, and when you finally sit in it, hoping that all the money that you spent for were for a good cause, it won't work as promised. 5 months after you bought it the dealer answers to your right questions "yeah, we're working on it, it's gonna be fine, in the mean time have a look at this random video, we really think of you as a valued customer!"

P.S.
As for the bold, it's not shouting, it's stressing on something, caps is shouting.

When you have a dodgy sports car and wish to complain about it how often would you? Once a month, week, day or hour? We are all in the same boat here and not one of us have a different game from the others so we all start from the same place but seems we end up at different destinations. I can tell you if you rang a garage hourly to repeat the same thing over and over again he will tell you where to go.

I take it you have played games before this and have good knowledge of games development from past titles. The fact that the developer speaks to us directly and usually weekly, with a touch of honesty as well, is more than any other software house has done in the entire history of me playing computer games. I respect that more than you would know. I have seen games that have bombed and not one of those has had the top honcho on their forums relaying information to us like Luthier does. They are usually released and abandoned, that's all we get from them.

ps I never implied you shouted.

Dammit! Now if that! better to hitting me a shot in the head
I'm sorry, but that doesn't mean that I'm waiting for a response...

adonys 07-25-2011 01:09 PM

thing is, other software houses have a much wider market, so they can afford to not care about the customers, as there are hundreds of thousands of other customers.

simulators on the other hand are a much narrower market, and if you alienate your customers base in this market, you're toasted!

No, don't flame me I'm just trying to stay OT or at least in the spirit of it. Or to put it another way, Luthier started it.....

Here we go!

What about this one, actually is still better and more immersive than CoD!

Veltro, Their Finest Hour was my first air combat 'sim', just before I moved to Air Warrior.

It's an update. We read that sound engine was a headache to dev team, and will be remake from scratch. Now Luthier says that this issue is "progressing well".

Good enough.

Still trying to stay 'in the spirit' but to be pedantic, its not an update. We know "the sound is progressing well", he told us that last time in his "most wanted" post. An update is more like "the sound is approximately 75% complete, we estimate release in three weeks". Now wouldn't a post like that quieten things down? Well, no, because some people would still be unhappy but that's no reason not to tell us.
