legacy of the British Empire and American superpower. English is the language of international commerce.

That's one reason English has over 800,000 words, and nobody knows them all. King Aelle would be proud, though he wouldn't be able to understand you.

On the other hand French is the language of war, the legacy of Napoleon. Almost all military words are French. Sergeant, lieutenant, colonel, artillery, infantry, cavalry (chevallerie), calibre, enfilade, bivouac, reveille, engagement, assault, siege, not to mention marines, army, navy and "military" itself are all adapted from French either via Napoleon or the Normans.

ok but more of them know english than we know japanese

Sure they do study english in school and uni, but most of them are so unable to speak!
This is due to their own language. It's something who has nothing to do with english grammar nor pronunciation (sp?). And almost nobody can actually learn a foreign language without having an abroad experience, or at least a mother tongue girlfriend ;)

Sorry for keeping OT

To be honest, places like France speak English better than some of us (the English) speak English

edal86 12-14-2009 04:04 AM

Please start a thread on where they speak English better, lol. Just kidding guys.

Mate if u say that my possible lack of time this time won't affect the tournament, then I'll be more than happy to join. Otherwise I prefer to stay out and not cause any trouble to you and the other participants :)

I would like to echo Hrok81's sentiments, I would like to join the fun but cannot be sure I can always fit into the schedule, PS3 in front room, so I cant monopolise the TV for my "midlife crisis"

Yes, no problem. You guys can play whenever you like. Only officers are expected to be online frequently (at least 3 times a week). So you guys can log in once a month if you like you just wont be able to rank up as fast or hold important ranks.
