In all fairness, the German parts only serve as captions for the pictures. I've seen others do it from time to time, with screenshots using the language of the air force they depict (like his Walrus pic).

Forum rules specify that post content should be in English, a caption is just like a footnote to the picture. In that sense, your post is closer to violating a forum rule than his, but it's not something that's generally enforced when people exchange just a couple of lines in another language:-P

It's only when a thread gets taken over by posts in a language the majority doesn't understand that a recommendation is made.

As for whether he shares the skins or not, it's his choice. If he was posting in the skins section without sharing anything then we could argue against it. This is a screenshots thread however and it's perfectly on topic. I mean, i could post a screenshot from a squad mission, there's nothing forcing me to upload the mission files too unless i'm posting in the missions section of the forums.

I understand you guys want to get your hands on those skins, but calling him a spoiled child won't get you there i guess.

Play nice everyone

Die Jäger der "Graf Zeppelin"
Messerschmitt Bf 109(T-2), Rote 5, I./JG77, Flugplatz Lister Norwegen, Oktober 1941.

And since it became a point for discussion, it is worthwhile to mention that this is a Bf109-T the model which was developed for carrier based operations for the Graf Zeppelin aicraft carrier which was never finished....

Luthier should hire You and other skinners like Kristorf, Cpt.Farrel etc. from here to make some good default skins for the planes :D Great work!

Quick question Rodolphe, are you ever going to release your skins?

I can understand if you didn't its clearly a lot of fun posting images of them and winding the same 2-3 people up LOL ;)

I assume you're using my mod to fly the defiant?

If so do you find the handling of that ship a little... difficult?

It seems like its really sensitive in roll. I'd imagine that was the case IRL with the heavy turret up top, but I've been wondering if I may need to tweak my joystick settings.

kestrel79 02-03-2012 10:45 PM

Rudolphe nice! Great skin.

I always liked the later war german icon that was the simpler white cross. When did the Germans start going to that instead of the more common black and white cross?

Kupsised 02-04-2012 04:57 PM

A couple of shots from a very quick mission I built up today, low-level bombing the fuel reserves in Dieppe. I only took them because I think the lighting is absolutely spectacular, especially the buring depos as I banked around to pass over again to see how I'd done. Time of shot's is about 8:04pm I think, perfect for lighting as sun was setting, about 5 minutes later it was dark. Steam seems to have buggered them up a bit though, they seem a bit blurry. With the game fully maxed out it looked amazing in 'real life'.

http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/...2-04_00002.jpg

That one taken just as the bombs exploded, they were supposed to have an 11 second delay on them, so took a bit of a jump when then plane suddenly jolted and that mess was left behind me.

http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/...2-04_00022.jpg

That one's taken on the way out. I was so taken by the lighting effects on the burning silos that I looped round and flew right back through the smoke on the way out and the bombadier was killed by flack. Bit of a shame, else it'd've been a perfect run.

E.F.Hartmann 02-04-2012 06:57 PM

I've been thinking of attempting this for a while, but because I don't feel very confident in my Photoshop skill I haven't until now. What the heck. Many of us have built plastic models as kids, and since there's been a slight resurgence of box art topics on various forums I thought I'd make a few of my own from CoD and RoF.

Aren't they running at different speeds?

Flanker35M 02-24-2012 07:15 AM

S!

If you look at the engine RPM on RoF planes, it is somewhere around 1500-2000. That is pretty close what some, if not most, propellors turn in WW2 planes as well. Both games make a better representation of it than many other products do.

I thought I'd try another mock up of a plastic model kit box art. Again with the caveat that other's screen shots come out better than mine because of low resolution. I've loved this skin on the Stuka since I first saw this model back some 40 years ago. Too bad the decals were crap. Trying to get that snake off in one piece was a bear.

Anyway, to the artist I stole this screenie from, you have my thanks. I rarely remember who I copy from, and I seem never to really find it important enough to give credit because I usually don't post any art on line (if you can call this art.)

Quite embarrassing compared to the jewels posted in this thread already, but hey. What the heck. The plane is Banana Forum Yellow.

Verhängnis 03-09-2012 07:39 AM

Y u no anti-aliasing!?

Robert 03-09-2012 07:53 AM

Running the resolution at 1024 x 768. The game doesn't have working anti-aliasing and stragely enough I just turned down my Catalyst Control Console's AA down for an experiment. I don't notice too much of a difference - either better performance or less quality. I had it at 4x and went down to 2x.

Since I didn't see much of a performance loss, maybe I'll try and boost it to see if there's any visual difference and if there is then see if it affects performance.

Verhängnis 03-09-2012 09:20 AM

I use anti aliasing through NVIDIA control panel, works great!
