The Cold and Lonely Channel.

Gentlemen,

I was on the Channel Ferry recently and I saw first hand how cold and lonely the Channel is. To land in this desert and die, must have been a terrible experience for all sides. Especially if in sight of land.

In my Ferry photo, you can see France. We were about half way across the channel to Calais from Dover at this point.

http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps39a28aa8.jpg

Hurricane v Me 109 low over the Channel (Der Kanal), (La Manche).

Head to Head! Both are far from home and alone.

http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps793d64e7.jpg

http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...psf3d6ff69.jpg

Both are damaged. Me 109 takes hits in the cowling, the Hurricane receives flaps' damage and looses speed.

http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps374e0dd9.jpg

http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps67d56f0d.jpg

The 109 pilot somehow gains an advantage...
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...psaf41ddfa.jpg

The Hurricane pilot uses his slow turn to escape...
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps421ef427.jpg

The dual continues...
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps1559bff7.jpg

After what seems an age of time, the Me 109 looses power..
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps366ad1a8.jpg

The Hurricane pilot in his damaged machine, edges slowly alongside the Me 109. Who is the pilot? Is he the same as he?
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps68ed8c0d.jpg

His engine slows and stops. The end is near...
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...pscf726d31.jpg

The Hurricane pilot turns to look for his fallen foe. Nothing. Only the sea. The Channel.
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...psc18a8efa.jpg

A tribute to all who fell.

Best Regards,
MB_Avro.

And:

Quote:

COD HAS DYNAMIC WEATHER!

I'll repeat what I've said over & over again. Dynamic weather has ALWAYS worked in COD. It was working when 1C released the last patch for the game & has been not changed since.

1. Weather front are dynamic, they move with the prevailing wind. (But mission builders don't build missions with fronts).
2. Weather fronts can be set to various weather types. The GUI in FMB is broken, so you'll have to manuall edit the front-type parameter in the mission file.
3. Different wind layers can be set within each front. You can have strata's of winds of different headings, with different strengths & at different heights. They all move with the weather front.
4. Wind sock objects are dynamic, they will turn with the prevailing wind & even billow out proportionally with wind strength.

It's all there!

I think the reason why most people believe dynamic weather is not wotking in the game stems from the early game release where player has to turn clouds off & mission builder has to construct misions witn no clouds & virtually clear, fine skies in order to keep fps's high enough to play. This is just not the case now! Mission can be built with dynamic weather front & they no longer hit fps like they used to.

planespotter 11-08-2013 08:29 PM

Itis cool when it happens right, and hard to land with that type damage which is very challenging.

But also, to me it is annoying that the fastest plane can sometime get no damage while the slow one takes all the damage. It should be equal.

robtek 11-08-2013 11:00 PM

i dont think that it is depending on the speed but on the structural soundness.
The trailing edge is usually not as strong as the leading edge.

He111 11-09-2013 06:25 AM

109 lost a wing tip and quickly spiralled into the ocean. i watched it as it went down, thinking, it looks so realistic ! .. but then thinking .. stupid AI! The 109 attacked @ 6 oclock high, usually death against a defiant but AI gunner had wasted all ammo on long range shots so just watched on .. but no need to fear, slight rudder on the defiant meant the 109 kept shooting to the side .. and continued like that until VERY close then tried to bank away .. sorry too close, i'll trade you a wing tip for a rudder ! DONE!

The clouds certainly add drama. Not only that, but when you are flying among them they do something to the way the light shines and reflects off the aircraft.

I'm not sure what they changed, but it is very welcome. Thanks Team Fusion

Gentlemen,

Our old friend, the Walrus. The finder of lost pilots..

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."

Method? I place cameras from the Mission Builder at the aircraft's altitude. As the aircraft flies through the camera, I record the interior of the aircraft's fuselage. Easy, really.....;)

Static Cameras in the Mission Builder have their limitations. It's necessary to have at least 40 cameras in position in the hope that at least one aircraft will fly 'through' a camera. (Setting the altitude of the cameras is not a problem).

You have to be aware that an aircraft could fly 'through' a camera at 300 mph (500 kph in foreign non-Empire terminology). You must be fast with your keyboard strokes to score an interior screenshot. Practice your keyboard strokes night and day.

It took me over eight days and nights to secure the Walrus interior fuselage shots in my post. Hard work but very worthwhile, as I'm sure you agree :!:

I have worn out seven keyboards this month due to interior fuselage demands. I now wear fingerless gauntlets.

I hope this helps.

Hmmm...

Sorry if I'm missing the joke here, but if you go to external view when your plane is near another, you can zoom out and go into/through the other plane that's near yours. No setting of static camera's is required to see inside, though slowing down and pausing the game beforehand may be required if both planes aren't flying in the same direction.

Nooooo.....you've burst my bubble !!!

Les 11-15-2013 07:04 PM

Sorry, had to do it.:)

Nice shots of the warlwrii(?) btw.

It still amazes me sometimes how it's possible to press a few buttons and watch almost life-like scenes of obscure planes like that flying around.

MB_Avro_UK 11-15-2013 08:48 PM

Indeed. I spend more time taking screenshots than flying !!

We need a screen capture of all the planes in CoD lined up on the tarmac like what was done as an homage in the original IL2 with all it's planes.
