Bullet Proof Windscreens.

Bullet Proof Windscreens were fitted to Spitfires and Hurricanes following experience in the Battle of France. Was it Dowding who pushed for it?

I don't like the way holes are modeled in the 109 canopy... They always appear in the exact same location and with a very doubtful projectile trajectory. They act like those magic bullets that were used to assassin JFK. (e.g. being shoot from behind and gaining a big hole in front of the canopy but no "enter" holes from behind.)

I know now why they call the Walrus a flying boat

After a succsessful head-on pass with my E-4 I watched a Walrus going down minus its tail. It went into a flat spin, and as I got farther I watched a tiny speck going really slowly towards the sea...not seeing any kill message in the hud window, I went to external view and had a little surprise: the damn thing had "landed" on the sea and was sailing happily towards England :-P

Those are great pics. Can't wait for the vid.

Did anyone notice that, in the first ME109/Spitfire pic,the pieces flying off are all the same shape? Also, their size doesn't seem to square with the damage. Just one of those shortcuts programmers take, I guess.

Hi there fellow flyers.

Recently I've been scanning through the forums and noticed that this thread hasn't seen action for 2 months! So apologies for the bump, but I thought I would breathe some life into it.

A lot of you have been complaining about trees and textures being too light. I think you're all just rivet-counting and that some of the details in this game are fantastic!

http://s1095.photobucket.com/albums/...nt=Hurris1.jpg
I took this shot on one of the missions in the "Fat Cat Squadron" campaign. Returning to Tangmere over the coast in formation was really something. I'm getting decent FPS on moderate to high settings everywhere except London, but that's to be expected.

I haven't been able to sort out multiplayer just yet but I hope to very soon, because I'm eager for some real action.

Tally-ho, ;)
Scott.

Very nice!

The outline of the hurri looks very smooth.. On my system planes at that distance start to look very 'jaggie' with regards to the outline..

Is the 'injected FXAA' cleaning up the 'jaggies'? If so, what settings are you using?

FXAA is a very efficient form of postprocess AA that is about equivalent to 4X MSAA. I get almost zero performance hit with it on. Here is a post describing it in more detail with download links as well. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.ph...i_Aliasin.html

I take my screenshots with FRAPS. It has always been able to take them with FXAA on in any game. There is a free version available. I recommend taking .png shots and then converting them to jpegs though.

I already cried what I had to, regarding this software... If I´m banned for using FXAA (with no AA available) I will waste my money and time on other titles & things.

Regards.

PS: Krupi did you tried the suggestion step by step I wrote on the other thread ( http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthr...21191&page=144 )? I am really curious to see how it goes in your system. The difference is quite substantial in terms of smoothness..

Yeah, one day you may tell your grand kids "I defied the Steam VAC by using the FXAA "mod" for CLoD" and they'll be like "Woooow! you're a real hero grand-dad!":)........"I also played a lot of Skyrim...but then I took an arrow to the knee"

Not likely with regards to CoD.. Based on a post at the STEAM forums, i.e.

STEAM on Can Subpixel Morphological Anti-Aliasing be whitelisted?

Where it was said wrt SMAA & FXAA injectors..

Spit cockpit. 30, 70, 90 degree views.

Edit - lol. I should have known better than to try jumping in there:)

Edit2 - Got my numbers back the front too, was thinking of camera lens fields of view ie. bigger numbers narrower view.

ACE-OF-ACES 01-11-2012 06:34 PM

With 3 monitors and TH2G I get a much wider FOV

KeroseneA1 01-11-2012 08:53 PM

Thanks Jaws and Les!

Which one do you most often fly with?

Les 01-11-2012 09:09 PM

I probably spend most time in the widest view, only using the narrower views when I want to read some gauges or look closer at something outside, but mainly because most of the time I'm not in direct combat and need to keep an eye on more of the sky overall.

In combat I still use all the views, but just change them more often, to keep track of what's happening around me. Generally speaking I only zoom in to the narrowest view when aiming and shooting, and even then I try not to, as I don't find the view very realistic and I prefer to just see what I think a real pilot would have seen, even if it is less spectacular than watching things in greater detail.

I also find the narrower, most zoomed in view makes it harder for me to judge distance properly and it can lead me to colliding with other planes or the ground if I'm not careful.

I'm no ace or expert though, and everyone has their own way of doing things, so just play around with the views yourself and see what works best for you.

Edit- BTW, I forgot this was the screenshots thread, it's best to keep the discussions to a minimum on this thread as it's just meant for pictures really.

Roger that Les, thks for the reply and the screens.

Nice skin :) Those Dorniers were a gift from Hermann Göring, many of the planes been used in Battle Of Britain. All of them scrapped after war due the arms restrictions set by Allies, especially Russkies.

Interesting note that one of the pilots of this plane had a dogfight with 2 x LA-5's when returning from a deep photo recon mission over Russia. ZERO hits on the Heinkel, La's ran out of ammo and the Russian pilot saluted before peeling off to base. After the war this Russian pilot wanted to meet the bomber pilot, but as he was not so keen to be in spotlight politely declined.

So are you going to share any of those skins? Or are they for your own personal use?

Amazing, is that skin available for download, and also with the historically correct markings? :)

Nope, he just shows them off. People have asked before, but no reply. I guess all these skins are for his own personal use or he's going to start a website and charge to download them.

priller26 01-31-2012 12:54 AM

Well, lets hope it's one day available for download and universal use. If not, I don't see why to even post them. I do like seeing the lovely skins these artists create, but if you can't use them, its a bit disappointing.
