It's boring enough that we can't set our compass that way to make tht remark. Nice pic (but why a N.cross ?) |
N.cross? What's that?

Extremely beautiful screenshots...
I am just sad to see Avenches (which was a very important place for swiss aviation, indeed) still in use in 1939/40...It closed in 1921, in favor of Payerne. JV |

Oh come on, its a typical easter egg and done in a minute texture wise. If that is your greatest critique in regards to the devs then I really want to have your problems.
|
Yes I know I was flying a Spit that had both wings ripped off and it just kept a flying, lol. All FM's serious need of rework, or work.

I know what you mean. Dores really hit on something there with that combination of colour and composition.
I like the way he kept the planes largely silhouetted and at a believable distance from the camera. I have no idea what he did with the colours though. The first picture looks like it's got some kind of accidentally-overexposed-film-type effect on the left and right, and the second looks like it might have a camera-lens vignetting effect, while both are slightly blurred and seem to have an old film-stock quality to the colours. To my eyes they're excellent examples of how post-processing effects can be used to create a more believable illusion of realism. Not forgetting of course that these images are also built upon the work of the artists at Maddox Games, who provided the base assets that we then get to manipulate and play with. |

Nice action shots timej31. Couldn't help but have a play with them though.
http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/3...styediteds.png I did a few variations, but this one's my favourite. I like the way the distant water looks with the increased darkness and contrast, and how it makes it look like the Spitfire pilot could be looking up straight up into the camera. Thanks for the images, it was fun messing around with them. |
Just thought I'd bump the thread by posting this picture by timej31 that I messed around with and which was also posted here - http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthr...=19702&page=18
http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/3...styediteds.png Not that this is the best example, but I'm still impressed by how screenshots of this game can be made to look. |
Cool Les!
Can you believe we didn't hit? That was very close you can even see the guy in the Spit really needs dental work. |
Lol, close indeed, sure does look like your wings were going to connect. The on-screen text says your undercarriage was damaged, did you manage to get back to base and survive the mission?

http://s8.postimage.org/5mgtxy9pf/2011_11_21_00002.jpg I like leaving the hud up, gives you a more "alive" less staged feel to it... like the screenshot is a spur of the moment... i guess to show its something i do normally instead of just to get a good picture... |

Some screens 2. Trees
|
Are they also fruit trees (specifically, apple trees) available? I am also dreaming of a kind of parametric forest/wood/copse object: we desperately missing this, as we cannot compensate by gathering individual trees to create them, however beautiful these trees may be!
This would be I believe the only way to save on individual tree numbers, and would allow a far better use of those...orchards, for instance, which were ubiquitous and very typical in France in these times! JVM |
As much as I like the trees. But I think the tree's barks are way too bright, too greyish. They look like dead dry wood.
|
With all those bucolic landscape what we need now is the local farmer'daughter to be modeled as the new character

Probably uses the new FSAA which has options to tune color to your liking as well.
|

Interesting, when you apply auto color and auto contrast, it will ALWAYS increase the contrast and make the picture less greenish. Food for thought for the devs, when working on the new gfx engine. |
|
I find that to get that sort of quality in your screen shot then you really need your game video settings at the absolute highest. Perhaps do a session specifically for taking shots if you get too low fps or stutters for a combat missions. Another thing I like to do is if you think you are in a good scenerio for a shot then hit the pause button first - only works offline of course. Then you can play around with camera angles, FOV, zoom in or out etc. to your hearts content. Like real life photography a good shot can take a lot of setting up and thought rather that just hitting print screen and hoping for the best.
|
AHHHH great screens guys. I really cannot wait for the next patch to fix the crashissues and to come back to CloD. Hopefully by then end of this week - maybe?
Winger |
Love the Stuka shot, and the damaged 110's with one wheel hanging down!
|
Thanks guys
|
Some really nice pics, wish I have a GPU that could handle it on this settings.
Talking about the wheel hanging down.... was it a common issue for aircrafts to release parts of the gear due to damage? I'm feeling that this happens very often during my play as well.... just out of curiosity |
Just look at those screens guys. I think the community has become a little blasé about what we're being offered with respect to CloD. The potential of this product is truly enormous. Just imagine when it's perfected and technology catches up a little.
Personally I'm willing to wait as long as it takes. I know the current state of affairs is frustrating but we really can't afford to shun the developers at this critical stage and risk the future of this remarkable series. |
Great screenshots everyone. Thanks.
'The Old Bell' is a great name for a pub. I'm glad they didn't go for the obvious ones (King's Arms etc.) |

Most notable on most aircraft when they lose engine power, there is therefore no Hydraulic pressure and landing gear/flaps cannot be used. Or even on the Spitfire, which had hydraulic prop pitch and landing gear. Which is why there is a compressed air tank in the cockpit for emergency lowering of the undercarriage. A mod was made for IL-2 1946 which simulates this. At the start of the video is some gun cam footage showing failing hydraulics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvlG9fY9g2Q |
